In this study, we compared the performance of twelve pipelines (three mapping and four variant discovery algorithms) with recommended settings to capture single nucleotide variants. We observed significant discrepancy in variant calls among tested pipelines for different heterogeneity levels in real and simulated samples with overall high specificity and low sensitivity. Additional to the individual evaluation of pipelines, we also constructed and tested the performance of pipeline combinations.

The objective of this paper is to highlight the impact of ownership discrepancy and type (managers, chairman, state, foreign) on executive compensation (salary, bonus) in Vietnamese Listed Firms for period 2010 -2016. Based on a sample of Vietnamese listed firms and using panel data regressions, the results show that CEO ownership and Government ownership have significant positive impact on the level of total Executive cash compensation.

Special Fund Accounting Practices. In response to this year’s Department of Parks and Recreation accounting issues, the Legislature passed Chapter 343, Statutes of 2012 (AB 1487, Committee on Budget), to ensure that special fund information was presented in the Governor’s budget on the same basis as that used in the Controller’s budgetary accounting reports. We expect that the 2013-14 Governor’s Budget will include updated information on special fund balances in response to these requirements.

The primary finding of this paper is that carbon monoxide (CO) has a significant effect on hospitalizations for asthma among children ages 1 to 18, while none of the pollutants considered has a clear impact on hospitalizations for infants. This discrepancy across age groups is possibly due to the complications inherent in diagnosing asthma in infants. To assess the importance of these findings, I analyze California’s Low-Emission Vehicle II standards and find that nearly 15-20% of the costs from this policy are recovered in asthma hospitalizations for children alone.
