The present investigation was carried out to assess the rearing performance of silkworm Bombyx mori L. on antibiotic supplemented feed at various concentrations. The study was conducted on the silkworm breed APS-45. The worms were reared upto 3rd moult by feeding on mulberry leaves without any treatment.

Among the silkworm diseases, white muscardine caused by Beauveria bassiana is the most common disease. The seven different chemicals viz., BKC (90%), pine Oil (100%), bleach (12%), sodium chlorite (80%), bleaching powder (30%), sanitech (2000ppm) and hydrated lime (80%) were tested and screened against fungus (beauveria bassiana and bacteria (bacillus and staphyllococcus) based on poison food technique with different concentrations such as 0.05%, 0.5%, 1%, 2%, 2.5%, 3%, 5%and 10% with three replications for each chemical concentration along with control.

Antagonistic potentiality of four isolates of Trichoderma species viz. Trichoderma viride isolate A, Trichoderma viride isolate M, Trichoderma harzianum isolate C and Trichoderma harzianum isolate L against Beauveria bassiana causing white muscardine disease of Silk worm, Bombyx mori L, was studied invitro by studying the mycelial interaction between them as well as by the effect of culture filtrate of biocontrol agents on sporulation and spore germination of pathogen.

The principle of efficient use of available system for quality improvement is tried to utilize in the present study. The present attempt was undertaken to study the influence of acetone solution of Ferruginol, a natural phenol and a meroterpene compound, on the cocoon characters and silk filament parameters of silk worm Bombyx mori (L.) (Race: PM x CSR2). Three concentrations (5ppm; 10ppm and 20ppm) of Ferruginol were prepared.

India is the biggest consumer of raw silk and silk fabrics and second largest producer of raw silk after China. There are two types of silk viz., mulberry silk and vanya silk (non-mulberry silk). India has vast potential for production of vanya silks which plays a major role in rural livelihood security. Vanya silk can also be produced from the cocoons of wild silkworm, Gonometa rufobrunnea insect. The main food plant of Gonometa rufobrunnea is Colophospermum mopane commonly called as mopane. Mopane is a xeric species of South Africa and introduced in India for sand dune stabilization.

Different silkworm residues in combination with paddy straw were evaluated for button mushroom (Agaricus bisporus Lange) production. The substrate was prepared by substituting silk worm leaf litter, silk worm excreta and spent silk moth residue with paddy straw at 25 and 50 percents. The yield and bio-efficiency of button mushroom was found to be highest in control treatment, paddy straw (927 g per 5.00 kg substrate and 61.80%, respectively) and the yield was ranged between 890 and 760 g per 5.

The gamma radiation was given to 4 day and 8 day old pupae of uzi flies at two effective doses of 1.5 and 2 kr and the observations were recorded for two generations and the study was carried out in the department of Sericulture, UAS, GKVK, Bengaluru. The pre-mating duration was significantly different between 1.5 and 2 kr when 4 day old pupae and 8 day old pupae were irradiated, the mating duration was not significantly different between 1.5 and 2 kr when 4 day old pupae and 8 day old pupae were irradiated. The ovipositional duration showed a significant difference between 1.
