Comparative assessment of antibacterial and antifungal activities of metallic ion based formulations
The present study aims to investigate the potential of the new formulations including silver (I) nanoparticles as well as copper (II) and zinc (II) chelates in their separated and complex forms in the treatment of infectious diseases. The capacity of metallic ion based systems to suppress the development of microorganism often seen on wounds, such as Gram-negative bacteria (Klebsiella pneumonia ATCC 700603, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853), Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213), and fungi (Candida albicans ATCC 10231) were evaluated by microdilution assay.

In the present investigation, the power conversion efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells has been remarkably increased by incorporation of green synthesized silver nanoparticles into TiO2 photoanodes. Uniform silver nanoparticles were developed by treating silver ions with Peltophorum pterocarpum flower extract at room temperature.

Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-allyl acetic acid) [p(NIPAM-co-AAAc)] microgels were synthesized in aqueous medium by free radical emulsion polymerization using N-isopropylacrylamide as monomer, allylacetic acid as comonomer, and N,N-methylene-bis-acrylamide as cross-linker. Silver nanoparticles were fabricated inside the microgels by in situ reduction of silver ions. Microgels were analyzed by UV-visible spectroscopy, FTIR, XRD, TEM, and DLS. The formation of silver nanoparticles was confirmed by UV-visible spectroscopy.

The kinetics and mechanism of silver(I)-catalyzed oxidation of allyl alcohol with peroxodiphosphate in acetate buffers have been studied. The rate is independent of allyl alcohol concentration. The effect of other reaction parameters such as hydrogen and acetate ions has also been studied. The rate law accounting for all experimental observations corresponds to the proposed mechanism. The energy and entropy of activation have also been evaluated by employing Eyring plots.

The presented work demonstrates the preparation of copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) via aqueous leaves extract of Ziziphus mauritiana L. (Zm) using hydrazine as a reducing agent. Various parameters such as volume of extract, concentration of hydrazine hydrate, concentration of copper chloride, and pH of the solution were optimized to obtain Ziziphus mauritiana L. leaves extract derived copper nanoparticles (Zm-CuNPs).

In this study, silver nanoparticle (AgNP) synthesis was carried out using Onosma sericeum Willd. aqueous extract for the first time, with a simple, economical, and green method without the need for any other organic solvent or external reducing or stabilizing agent. A variety of AgNPs, all of different particle sizes, were synthesized by controlling the silver ion concentration, extract volume, temperature, and pH. It was determined that the optimum conditions for AgNP synthesis were 1 mM AgNO3 , pH 8, 25 °C, 20 g/200 mL extract, silver nitrate, and extract ratio 5:1 (v/v).

In this work, Ag+ ions in water were adsorbed using hydroxyapatite (HAp) powder and recovery silver by electrodeposition. The adsorption efficiency of silver was about 61 % at 50 oC after 60 minutes of contact time. The Ag+ adsorption process using HAp powder followed Langmuir adsorption isotherms with the maximum monolayer adsorption capacity of 18.7 mg/g. 60 % of silver can recovery by electrodeposition after 4 hours at the apply current of 10 mA at 50 °C.

Silver nanoparticles (AgPNs) were prepared by high-voltage electrochemical methods using silver anode to produce silver ions and hydrogen gas at the cathode from electrolysis of distilled water as solvents. The electrolyte solution resulting from the obtained AgPNs product does not contain ions of the electrolyte solution such as conventional chemical or electrochemical methods. Silver anode dissolution process would provide Ag+ and disperse it into distilled water.

This study was focused on the synthesis of silver nanoparticles using Acalypha hispida leaf extract and the characterization of the particles using UV–Vis spectroscopy, XRD, FT-IR, and TEM. The results showed the formation of silver nanoparticles, crystalline in nature, with an average size of 20–50 nm. The leaf extract components were analyzed with GC–MS and exhibited a high content of Phytol (40.52%), n-Hexadecanoic acid (9.67%), 1,2,3-Benzenetriol (7.04%), a-D-Mannofuranoside methyl (6.22%), and D-Allose (4.45%).

The present work involves development of stable antimicrobial materials containing silver- and zinc-ion–exchanged zeolites. Faujasite X and Linde type A zeolites were synthesized, and following ion exchange with Ag+ and Zn++ ions they were found to exhibit antimicrobial effects against bacteria (E. coli, P. aeruginosa, and S. aureus), yeast (C. albicans and C.glabrata), and fungi (A. niger and P. expansum).

This paper presents the results of an experimental study of three samples containing various elements in the near-surface layers. The depth profiles of all the elements of different atomic masses from hydrogen to silver were investigated by Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry (RBS) and Elastic Recoil Detection Analysis (ERDA). The experiments were performed by using the low-energy (about 2 MeV) 4He+ ion beams.
