Simplified geometrical model

In this document, we present a simplified geometrical model (0D model) for the in-core corium propagation transient. A degraded core with a formed corium pool is used as an initial state. This state can be obtained from a simulation computed with an integral code.

The thermal loads include the uniform temperature rise and nonlinear temperature change across the thickness of shell. A closed form solution for the thermal buckling of simply supported cylindrical FG shell under the described thermal loads is obtained. The influences of the relative thickness, the imperfection size and the power law index on buckling thermal loads are all discussed.

One example of the application of this new theory is in the context of robotic locomotion.For a large class of land-based locomotion systems—included legged robots, snake-like robots, and wheeled mobile robots—it is possible to model the motion of the system using the geometric phase associated with a connection on a principal bundle (see KRISHNAPRASAD [1990], KELLY &MURRAY [1995] and references therein).
