  • The studies involving water bugs (Hemiptera) biodiversity and ecology are very few and have mainly focused on taxonomy. We conducted research and evaluation of diversity indexes of water bugs (Hemiptera) in different landscapes including forest habitats, agricultural lands, ponds, streams from 16 sampling sites in Bac Kan, Lao Cai, Ninh Binh and Ha Tinh provinces. As a result, a total of 43 species of 23 genera of 10 families were recorded.

  • The study is based on time series data pertaining to the period 1996-2013. The data on value of exports/imports for India and world were collected from FAOSTAT database. The data was analysed using simple descriptive statistical tools. Simpson diversification index was used to measure the export import diversity and export performance ratio were calculated to find out the comparative advantage.

  • Soil microflora and their diversity study are now modern trends to know the proper soil health. Greater diversity of fungi in soil indicates better health of soil. In this experiment agricultural soil, barren land and garden soil were taken for their micromycoflora study and the diversity of microfungi were analysed by Simpson index and compared among the three types of soil. Total 563 colonies were isolated from the 38 soil samples collected from three different ecosystem types. Sixty eight (68) different species belonging to 31 genera were recorded.

  • Diversity of insect pests influenced by pesticides usages, Simpson index (D) of biodiversity index of insects were calculated. Significant difference was observed among the different pesticide usage patterns, and respective unsprayed plots. In cabbage, D=0.62, D= 0.26 in pesticide and unsprayed plots respectively and brinjal, D=0.64, D= 0.31 (pooled) were recorded in pesticide and unsprayed plots respectively where is no significant difference of insect diversity was noticed in low pesticide usage crops maize D=0.83, D= 0.80 in pesticide and unsprayed plots respectively and sorghum D=0.

  • The aim of the present investigation was to prepare an inventory of ectomycorrhiza prevailing in Zabarvan forest range of Western Himalayas of Kashmir and assess their diversity index and species richness. Three forest sites viz., Dachigam, Shalimar and Shankaracharia hills were surveyed periodically for three consecutive years (2011-2013) for ectomycorrhiza. A total number of 67 species in 23 genera belonging to 21 families in 07 orders were recorded. The study revealed that mycorrhizal fungal species richness was more in autumn season (45 species) and less in summer (11 species).

  • A three years (2015-2017) study was carried out to study the diversity of Wood Rotting Fungi from two different forest stands, Hmuifang forest and Tanhril forest of Mizoram, Northeast India. A total of 45 species were identified from both the study sites. It was observed that a total of 21 species were common to both the forests whereas 19 species were found only found in Hmuifang forest and 5 species only in Tanhril forest. ShannonWiener’s diversity index of fungal species was found to be 3.31 in Hmuifang forest and 2.99 in Tanhril forest; Simpson shows 0.95 in Hmuifang and 0.

  • We studied the arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) and dark septate endophyte (DSE) fungal associations in five species of potgrown Asparagus (A. aethiopicus, A. densiflorus, A. setaceus, A. racemosus, and A. umbellatus). Root colonization by AM and DSE fungi and AM spore numbers in the soil were assessed. AM fungal diversity indices like species richness, Shannon–Weiner index, Simpson’s index, evenness, and Jaccard’s index were determined.

  • North African steppes are subjected to extreme degradation resulting in the reduction of their surface, genetic erosion of resources, and decrease in biodiversity. Stipa tenacissima steppes, which constitute one of the most representative vegetation types in the driest areas of the Mediterranean basin, are continuously degrading.
