  • The prolonged drought due to climate change has significantly affected the agricultural production of rural communities in the mountainous and plain areas of Vietnam. We use the standardized precipitation index (SPI) combined with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) to simulate and forecast the impacts of drought on agricultural land use in Bac Tra My district, Quang Nam province, in the study.

  • The aim of this research was to investigate the formation of hydrogen sulphide for different sewage characteristics and flow rates. An experimental set-up was developed to simulate a section of a gravity sewer pipe, the set-up comprised of a pipe of 2 m long and 155 mm inside diameter, referred to in this thesis as a laboratory sewer pipe. The first stage of the experimental program involved developing a biological growth rich in sulphate-reducing bacteria inside the laboratory sewer pipe using synthetic sewage.

  • α-Tocopherol is one of the most important vitamin E components present in plant. α-Tocopherol is a potent antioxidant, which can deactivate photoproduced reactive oxygen species (ROS) and prevent lipids from oxidation when plants suffer drought stress.

  • The Present study was carried out in the wire-netting house of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kalahandi during Rabi 2014-15.The objective of the present endeavour was to screen 6 number of Paddy varieties (early group,75-85 days) for higher photosynthetic efficiency with higher productivity under simulated moisture stress conditions. The experiment was laid out in a factorial CRD with three stress treatments and three replications.

  • Drought seriously curtails growth, physiology and productivity in rapeseed (Brassica napus). Although drought tolerance is a complex trait, efficient phenotyping and genotyping has led to the identification of novel marker-trait associations underlying drought tolerance. A diverse panel of 228 Brassica accessions was phenotyped under normal (without stress) and water-stress conditions, simulated by polyethylene glycol (PEG-6000) (15% PEG stress) at the seedling stage; stress tolerance index (STI) and stress susceptibility index (SSI) values were acquired.

  • Individual plants adapt to their immediate environment using a combination of biochemical, morphological and life cycle strategies. Because woody plants are long-lived perennials, they cannot rely on annual life cycle strategies alone to survive abiotic stresses.

  • Eruca vesicaria subsp. sativa is one of the Cruciferae species most tolerant to drought stress. In our previous study some extremely drought-tolerant/sensitive Eruca lines were obtained. However little is known about the mechanism for drought tolerance in Eruca.

  • Understating hydro-climatological conditions in a transboundary is always challenging because of issues in sharing available data among riparian countries. The present study has explored the hydro-climatological drought conditions over Hong-Thai Binh river watershed (H-TBRW) based on the downscaled rainfall and reproduced streamflow by the state-of-the-art coupled regional hydroclimate model. The standardized precipitation index (SPI) and streamflow drought index (SDI) indicators are used to define the climatological and hydrological drought conditions, respectively.

  • Greenhouse gases are accumulating in Earth’s atmosphere as a result of human activities, causing surface air temperatures and subsurface ocean temperatures to rise. Temperatures are, in fact, rising. The changes observed over the last several decades are likely mostly due to human activities, but we cannot rule out that some significant part of these changes is also a reflection of natural variability. Human-induced warming and associated sea level rises are expected to continue through the 21st century.
