In order to create a markerless real-time hand tracking system suitable for natural human machine interaction, we propose a new method that combines generative and discriminative methods to solve the hand tracking problem using a single RGBD camera. Our system removes the requirement of the user having to wear to color wrist band and robustifies the hand localization even in di cult tracking scenarios.

Protein quality assessment (QA) useful for ranking and selecting protein models has long been viewed as one of the major challenges for protein tertiary structure prediction. Especially, estimating the quality of a single protein model, which is important for selecting a few good models out of a large model pool consisting of mostly low-quality models, is still a largely unsolved problem.

The number of porcine Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) used in genetic association studies is very large, suitable for statistical testing. However, in breed classification problem, one needs to have a much smaller porcine-classifying SNPs (PCSNPs) set that could accurately classify pigs into different breeds.

This research discusses an integer batch scheduling problems for a single-machine with positiondependent batch processing time due to the simultaneous effect of learning and forgetting. The decision variables are the number of batches, batch sizes, and the sequence of the resulting batches.

This paper introduces the use of pattern search (PS) algorithm, as a deterministic direct search optimization method, for solving machining optimization problems. To analyze the applicability and performance of the PS algorithm, six case studies of machining optimization problems, both single and multi-objective, were considered.

The main objective of this research is to develop a machine for removing solid bio-digested slurry from the underground digester. In this research, a concrete digester having depth 10feet x 10 diameter was constructed and installed under the ground for biogas production. The storage capacity of this digester is 2000 kg .The application of this digester is biogas production and an alternative of LPG cylinder. The biomass used is chopped paddy straw, which gets converted into solid bio-digested slurry after an interval of three months. The main problem was removal of this solid bio-digested.

(BQ) This paper describes the heat source diameter of single pulse discharge in electrical discharge machining. To observe the discharge plasma, SiC and Ga2O3 single crystals were used as the electrode material since they are optically transparent and electrically conductive. It was found that plasma diameter expands within a few microseconds after dielectric breakdown and the plasma diameter is much larger than the discharge crater.

Extractive summarization techniques cannot generate document summaries shorter than a single sentence, something that is often required. An ideal summarization system would understand each document and generate an appropriate summary directly from the results of that understanding. A more practical approach to this problem results in the use of an approximation: viewing summarization as a problem analogous to statistical machine translation.

Several attempts have been made to learn phrase translation probabilities for phrasebased statistical machine translation that go beyond pure counting of phrases in word-aligned training data. Most approaches report problems with overfitting. We describe a novel leavingone-out approach to prevent over-fitting that allows us to train phrase models that show improved translation performance on the WMT08 Europarl German-English task.

Statistical machine translation is often faced with the problem of combining training data from many diverse sources into a single translation model which then has to translate sentences in a new domain. We propose a novel approach, ensemble decoding, which combines a number of translation systems dynamically at the decoding step. In this paper, we evaluate performance on a domain adaptation setting where we translate sentences from the medical domain.

This section concludes with a few “interesting facts” emerging from the HPDD and showcasing the richness of the database. The largest single-year debt ratio increases (in percentage points) for the G-20 advanced countries occurred in two years associated with World War I and II—by 22 percentage points of GDP in 1944 and by 14 percentage points in 1919—and also in 2009, when public debt rose by 13 percentage points of GDP. The largest single-year declines occurred in 1969 (-7 percentage points) and 2000 (-3 percentage points).
