  • Once the mechanical properties of printed TPU are characterised, a novel, low cost, and environmentally friendly method for concrete casting using printed TPU moulds is proposed in this thesis. Additively manufactured TPU mould is developed to cast complex concrete structures. A planar topologically optimized cantilever and a free-form 3D column are cast using the proposed TPU mould. Good surface quality is obtained for the cast concrete elements, and the moulds can be reused many times after cleaning.

  • The aim of the present work is to investigate and to compare the influence of the two sintering additives Cr2O3 and TiO2 on the porous structure and the mechanical properties of the sintered porous alumina. Alumina based porous ceramics were fabricated by sacrificial template technique via powder metallurgy route from alumina powder using ammonium bicarbonate (NH4)HCO3 as the pore former. T

  • he effect of the ZnO addition in pure perovskite PZT−PMnN−PSbN ceramics sintered from 950 to 1200oC has been investigated. The phase structure of ceramics changes from rhombohedral to tetragonal and the temperature decreases with the increase of the ZnO content. The limitation of Zn2+ concentration for the solubility in PZT–PMnN–PSbN systems is about 0.25% wt., at which the ceramic shows some good physical properties such as the density of 8.20 g/cm3 , some dielectric constants including εr = 1,555 and εmax = 32,900.

  • Additive Manufacturing (AM) is a process of joining materials to make objects from 3D model data, usually layer by layer, as opposed to subtractive manufacturing methodologies. Selective Laser Melting, commercially known as Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS®), is the most diffused additive process in today’s manufacturing industry.

  • The rapid increase in emissions of major greenhouse gases such as CO2 and CH4 in the last decade has seriously affected the climate change and the living environment in the world in general and in Vietnam in particular. In addition, the demand for effective use of CO2 - rich natural gas has promoted studies to find new, highly active and stable catalysts for the methane reforming process. NiO has proven to be the most suitable catalyst for industrial application of the reforming process.

  • A combination of gel-casting and polymeric foam infiltration methods is used in this study to prepare porous bodies of hydroxyapatite (HA), to provide a better control over the microstructures of samples. These scaffolds were prepared by impregnating a body of porous polyurethane foam with slurry containing HA powder, and using a percentage of solids between 40% and 50% w/v, and three different types of monomers to provide a better performance.

  • Research results on 3D modeling of the diamond grain and its bearing layer when sintering diamond grinding wheels are provided in this paper. The influence of the main characteristics of the wheel materials and the wheel production process, namely the quantity of metallic phase within diamond grain, coefficient of thermal expansion of the metallic phase, the modulus of elasticity of bond material and sintering temperature, on the internal stresses arising in grains is investigated. The results indicate that the stresses in the grains are higher in the areas around the metallic phase.

  • The oxidation behavior of two types of inhomogeneous nickel was investigated in air at 1273 K for a total oxidation time of 100 h. The two types were porous sintered-nickel and microstructurally inhomogeneous cast-nickel. The porous-nickel samples were fabricated by compacting Ni powder followed by sintering in vacuum at 1473 K for 2 h. The oxidation kinetics of the samples was determined gravimetrically. The topography and the cross-section microstructure of each oxidized sample were observed using optical and scanning electron microscopy.

  • The relative density and Vickers micro-hardness of W-K-TiC alloys was enhanced with TiC addition and the highest Vickers micro-hardness is 731.55. As the TiC addition increased from 0.05 to 2 wt%, the room-temperature tensile strength raised from 141 to 353 MPa. The grain size of the W-K-TiC alloys decreased sharply from 2.56 mm to 330 nm with the enhanced TiC doping. The resistance to thermal shock damage of W-K-TiC alloys was improved slightly with the increased TiC addition.

  • Preparation of a high purity powder is one of the most important steps in producting transparent MgAl2O4 ceramic. Additionally, the particles are required to have nanoscale scale, uniform size and least agglomeration, which make diffusion enhanced at grain boundary during sintering process, promote densification to achieve full dense bulk material.
