  • The biological experiment was carried out with a total of five hundred and twenty five day old straight-run Japanese quail chicks up to 5 weeks of age. At the end of five weeks post hatch growth performance study, six birds from each treatment group were drawn randomly and subjected to humane method of slaughter. The study was conducted to assess the carcass yield on post-hatch performance of Japanese quail as influenced by supplementing Omega-3 PUFA rich oil sources like fish oil and linseed oil, independently and simultaneously at 2 and 4 per cent levels.

  • In this study it is observed that animals mostly slaughtered in different slaughter houses across meat related zones in Tamil Nadu are below one year of age which indicates consumers’ preference to tender meat over tougher meat from old animals.   • The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of sex and age on physico-chemical and organoleptic qualities of Rajasri chicken at three different ages i.e. 16th, 20th and 24thweeks of age. Day old chicks (n=144) were reared to the age of 16, 20 24 weeks of age under the deep litter system.   • A study was conducted to compare the carcass characteristics and meat composition of a triple cross progeny involving (Hansli × CSML) ♂and CSFL ♀ chicken, taken as the treatment group, with that of a cross of coloured synthetic broiler parent lines (CSML ♂ × CSFL ♀) chicken, taken as the control group, raised under intensive management system.   • A study was conducted to the effect of garlic with two different levels on the growth performances and carcass characteristics of NandanamBroiler-2. A total of 84 day old NandanamBroiler-2 chicks were randomly allotted into three treatments with two replicates which contained 14 chicks in each replicate for 8 weeks experimental period. The dietary treatments were formulated as a control (T1), 0.25 % (T2), 0.50% (T3) garlic paste with basal diet. The data on production parameters like weekly body weight, feed consumption and mortality were recorded.

  • The present study was conducted to investigate various micrometric parameters of bronchiole and bronchi in prenatal Gaddi sheep lung. A total of n=18 Gaddi sheep fetuses were collected from various slaughter houses in and around Palampur town for one year. The prenatal lung samples were divided into three groups which included group-I (0-50 days of gestation), group-II (50-100 days of gestation) and group-III (100-150 days of gestation) based on their age in days. The overall diameter of bronchiole increased from group-I to group-III.
