  • The Jammu and Kashmir has a varied type of climate from sub-tropical to cold arid. The main crops grown in the state are rice, maize, wheat, pulses, oil seeds, saffron etc. The cultivation of Saffron is mostly confined to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. In Kashmir saffron cultivation is peculiar and the legend about its introduction in to Kashmir shows that it is an ancient industry about 2200 years’ old. It is the legendry crop of the welldrained plateau of Pampore. The present study is an attempt to analyse the cost, return and marketing of Saffron in Jammu and Kashmir.

  • The study conducted in Hamirpur district of Uttar-Pradesh. The investigation was carried out Personal, psychological situational and communicational profile of the gram cultivators. The findings revealed that nearly (66%) percentage of gram cultivators belonged to middle age and (33.3 %) percentage of gram cultivators belonged to old age category. Majority of gram cultivators were in medium educational level in general and same trend was found in all the three categories. The average land holdings of small, medium and big gram cultivators were 21, 31, and more than 58 acres, respectively.

  • Study was conducted in Tejwapur block of Bahraich district of U. P. A sample of 100 respondents was chosen through purposive cum proportionate random sampling and were categorised as marginal, small and medium size group of farms. A survey was conducted by personal interview method with use of pre-structured schedule. Simple tabular analysis was done to find out the result. It was found that maize cultivation was profitable at all categories of farm.

  • The present study was conducted to know the selective breeding, feeding and management practices followed by dairy farmers in Punjab. A total of 150 farmers were selected randomly and divided into three categories, small (n=48), medium (n=74) and large (n=28). With help of well-structured interview schedule and pretested questionnaire data were collected w.r.t. breeding, feeding and management practices being followed. The data revealed that the farmers offered 20-40 kg of green fodder and 2-5 kg of concentrate mixture to dairy animals, but only 23.

  • An investigation was carried out to study the effect of strain and egg weight on chick’s weight in large, medium and small sized eggs of chicken strains. The study was conducted at poultry farm, SKN College of Agriculture, Jobner. A total of 297 eggs were collected and grouped into three egg size categories i.e. Small (38-44 g), medium (45-52 g) and large (53-59 g). For Kuroiler breed of chicken, the chick weight was found significantly higher in medium class (38.5 g) followed by small (34.3 g) and large (38.1g) egg classes.

  • A study was conducted to analyze the economics of different tea plantation farms in Mokokchung district of Nagaland state, both primary and secondary data were used. The primary data pertained to the year 2018-19 and was elicited from 90 tea plantation cultivators and 10 market intermediaries were also selected for the data collection through pre-tested questionnaires. Total cost of tea production for small farm size category was accounted to be Rs 34627.20/-, out of which total variable cost was Rs 24734.80/- and total fixed cost was Rs 9402.40/-.

  • The study was conducted in two different ecological zones of Haryana to determine the farmers’ awareness towards zero tillage to conserve the soil as the degradation is increasing day by day. A group of 240 respondents were interviewed with help of a well - designed interview schedule. The main objective is to study the personal, socio-economic, psychological and situational characteristics of the farmer’s families who committed suicides.   • Economic study of potato production of 44 growers grouped into small (20), medium (14) and large (10) from Agra district showed the overall cost of cultivation to be Rs. 140303.7 per farm and Rs. 78657.98 per hectare. Among all the inputs, per hectare value of potato seed was 25%, the human labour was 14%, the total variable cost was 78%, the total fixed cost was 22% per ha and the overall total cost C3 of potato was Rs. 154334.07 per farm and Rs. 86523.78 per hectare. The gross income received by farms with the overall average of Rs. 188370.

  • Adoption, Paddy is important cereal crop of Andhra Pradesh state, particularly East and West Godavari is considered as Rice bowl of Andhra Pradesh.
