A large population of rural or hills of Uttarakhand is still facing the energy crisis in the household as well as for small and medium scale industries due to insufficient supply of fuel and electricity. The supply of coal and LPG is irregular for far-flung areas which make them bound to depend solely on wood for fuel. Therefore, a study was undertaken to evaluate the physical and thermal properties of pine needle biochar briquettes to check its feasibility as sustainable solid biofuel for the hills of Uttarakhand.

Natural resources are being consumed at an alarming rate, and the capacity of resources and technologies to satisfy food demand for the growing population remains uncertain. Since agriculture along with its allied sector, is the largest source of livelihood in India having 70% of rural household depending on agriculture as their primary occupation of which 82 % of farmers are small and marginal (FAO, 2019), the use of non monetory inputs by the poor farmers can be quite the most feasible, eco-friendly and climate smart option to preserve the environment and safeguard the natural resources.

These cooking processes would bring about a number of changes in physical characteristics and chemical composition of vegetables. Thus, the present study helps to know the effect of different commonly used household processing methods on total antioxidant activity, flavanoid content and total polyphenols content of the selected vegetables.

This paper found that the increase in housing prices can significantly promote the consumption of urban households with housing in China. And the promotion effect increases with family’s net finance asset, i.e., the richer the families are, the more their spending rises. For the urban families without housing, the increase in housing prices inhibit their consumption. When housing prices rise by 1%, the consumption drop by 0.748%. The mechanism is that the increase in housing prices reduce the households’ marginal propensity to consume by higher precautionary saving motivation.
