  • This study assessed the empowerment of dairy women by developing an index by adopting a systematic procedure; seven dimensions under women empowerment were selected namely social, economic, psychological, cultural, political, legal and technological empowerment. The Normalised Rank Order Method was used for determining the scale values. These dimensions were ranked according to judges‟ perceived significance and proportions were calculated accordingly while determining the values for each, by Guilford table.

  • Economic independency is a key factor for social and cultural empowerment of women. Rearing small scale Vanaraja chicken can be promising for nutritional security and subsidiary income. Rearing indigenous chickens traditionally in Assam faces inherent constraints like low production, high mortalities hindering lucrative return. Realizing needs and to avert aberrant practices demonstrations on raising Vanaraja chickens in semiintensive system (30 chicks to each of 40 farmers) were conducted in farmers’ backyards. During brooding, limited concentrate feeding was done for 2 weeks.

  • A participatory empowerment model was developed for dairy farmers on the basis of various identified factors in Namakkal district, Tamil Nadu, India. This farmer’s participation model consists of steps like, analyses of resource availability, feeding pattern appraisal and micro level approach with ICT integration. After assessing the availability of feed resources and feeding pattern in the study area, a software was developed to solve the feeding problems of dairy farmers at every farm and every animal level.

There is also lack of specific studies dealing with contraceptive behavior among young married women. This study examines the use and determinants of contraceptive methods over the time period of 15 years (2001-2016) among young women in Nepal. Trend and bi-vatiate analysis of this study is based on the Nepal Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS), 2001, 2006, 2011 and 2016 data.
