  • The present study was conducted in Rewari and Khol block of Rewari district Haryana, with the objective to know the socio-economic status of SHG members. The data on socioeconomic variables were collected from 90 respondents drawn from 30 SHGs. The study revealed that almost all the members were land less and found to belong to middle age group (35-46 years), married, practicing dairy as major occupation, small herd size and belonging to low income group.

They were categorized in three groups i.e. small ,medium and large farmers which were differ from each other with regard to socio –economic factors and found that 54 per cent rice growers has medium level of knowledge .

  • The study was conducted in Erode and Tiruchirappali districts of Tamil Nadu, find out the climate change impact on socioeconomic status of the Paddy farmers. Totally 200 Paddy farmers were selected for the study. Study revealed that majority of farmers belonged to medium socio-economic status in both Kalingarayan and Ponnaniyaru basin.

  • The present study was carried out at SainaNehwal Institute of Agricultural Technology, Training and Education, Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar (Haryana) during 2016-17. Response of the trainees was evaluated on the basis of gender, age, educational status, occupation and adoption of bee keeping as an entrepreneurship. Majority of respondents (96%) were male; belonged to young age group (72%), having education level up to matriculation (47%) and farming as an occupation (51%).

  • The present paper explores the impact of Krishibhagya Yojana on socioeconomic status of farmers. For the study, multi stage random sampling technique was employed to select the farmers from Bidar, Yadgir and Kalaburagi district of North Eastern Karnataka.   • The study aimed to identify the social and demographic factors affecting the economic status of farm households in West Bengal. The results of multivariate approaches like Exploratory Factor Analysis revealed that household size, age group, farm size, gender, labour force participation rate, occupation and education were identified as key variables based on the highest factor loadings of each factor.   • To study the knowledge of dairy animal owners in improved dairy husbandry practices a field survey in Bihar state was conducted during April-June’2016. Data were collected through personal interview from randomly selected 1550 dairy animal owners from randomly selected villages from Chhapra, Vaishali district of Bihar with the help of pretested structured schedule. Survey indicates that the 71.67 percentage of the livestock farmers belonged to middle age category range from 35-50 years, followed by 15.00 percent in young age category and 13.33% belonged to old age category.

  • Rural residents have higher rates of age-adjusted mortality, disability, and chronic disease than their urban counterparts. Contributing negatively to the health status of rural residents are their lower socioeconomic status, higher incidence of both smoking and obesity, and lower levels of physical activity. Contributing negatively to the health status of farmers are the high risks from workplace hazards; contributing positively are farmers¿ higher socioeconomic status, lower incidence of smoking, and more active lifestyle.
