Skin and soft tissue infections are common because of exposure to aquatic environment, while severe infections caused by Aeromonas veronii are rare. Early diagnosis, surgical intervention, and administration of appropriate antibiotics are crucial for patients who are suspected of having skin and soft tissue infection, or septicemia caused by Aeromonas veronii.

Glycomer 631 and lactomer 9–1 are absorbable suture materials indicated for soft tissue approximation in non-infected wounds. Pigs are often used as surgical models in translational research; however, reports of tissue reactions to both suture materials in pigs are limited.

Walker orthosis are frequently prescribed as they are removable to allow wound control, body care and physiotherapy and are adaptable to the soft tissue conditions. The prerequisite for successful treatment with any walker orthosis is a correct use by the patient. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate patients’ handling of a commonly used walker.

Escherichia coli are normal commensals of the intestinal tract. But have been implicated to cause urinary tract infections, wound infections, septicaemias and neonatal meningitis. Extra-intestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli (ExPEC), the specialized strains of E coli that cause most extra-intestinal E. coli infections, represent a major but little appreciated health threat. The present study aimed at characterising the extra intestinal pathogenic E. coli (ExPEC) other than UPEC (UropathogenicE.

The aim of the trial is to demonstrate that with the use of modern IMRT/IGRT and reduction of safety margins postoperative wound complications can be reduced. The present study protocol prospectively evaluates the use of IMRT/IGRT for neoadjuvant RT in patients with soft tissue sarcomas of the extremity with the primary endpoint wound complications, which is the major concern with this treatment sequence.

Proteus species are among the commonly implicated pathogens in hospital as well as community acquired infections. They cause nosocomial sinusitis, intra-abdominal abscesses, biliary tract infection, surgical site infection, soft tissue infection and osteomyelitis. They cause significant clinical infections, which are difficult to eradicate especially from hosts with wounds, catheterization, underlying diseases and in immunocompromised states.

Clinical features of surgical soft tissue wound healing in dentistry have been rarely discussed in the international literature. The aim of the present paper is to highlight both the main clinical findings of surgical wound healing, especially in periodontal and implant dentistry, and the wound healing monitoring procedures which should be followed.

Bacteria of the genus Clostridium are gram-positive, spore-forming, obligate anaerobes that are ubiquitous in nature. There are 60 recognized species of clostridia, many of which are generally considered saprophytic. Some of these species are pathogenic for humans and animals, particularly under conditions of lowered oxidation-reduction potential. Infections associated with these organisms range from localized wound contamination to overwhelming systemic disease.

Gas Gangrene (Clostridial Myonecrosis) Gas gangrene is characterized by rapid and extensive necrosis of muscle accompanied by gas formation and systemic toxicity and occurs when bacteria invade healthy muscle from adjacent traumatized muscle or soft tissue. The infection originates in a wound contaminated with clostridia. Although 30% of deep wounds are infected with clostridia, the incidence of clostridial myonecrosis is quite low. These infections occur in both military and civilian settings.
