Biology-focused databases and software define bioinformatics and their use is central to computational biology. In such a complex and dynamic field, it is of interest to understand what resources are available, which are used, how much they are used, and for what they are used.

Phred quality scores are essential for downstream DNA analysis such as SNP detection and DNA assembly. Thus a valid model to define them is indispensable for any base-calling software. Recently, we developed the base-caller 3Dec for Illumina sequencing platforms, which reduces base-calling errors by 44-69% compared to the existing ones.

The dependent variable leverage is one minus the ratio of equity over assets in market values. It therefore includes both debt and non-debt liabilities such as deposits. The argument for using leverage rather than debt as the dependent variable is that leverage, unlike debt, is well defined (see Welch, 2007). Leverage is a structure that increases the sensitivity of equity to the underlying performance of the (financial) firm.
