This study aims to evaluate the effect of fire on soil properties at Zone A5, Tram Chim National Park, Tam Nong district, Dong Thap province. Findings indicated that soil type was acid sulfate, soil structures were clay, clay-silt and silt-clay. pH was low while moisture was high. Electrical conductivity and bulk density were in the tolerance range for the Eleocharis community.

Soil type is a vital determinant of soil fertility because of its characteristic biological, chemical, and physical properties. However, the soil fertility of upland soil is probably changed by different agricultural management practices regardless of soil type. This study investigated the features of soil fertility (bacterial biomass, total carbon (TC), and total nitrogen (TN)) in upland fields in Japan. One thousand soil samples from different soil types were collected from upland fields located on 36 prefectures in Japan.

By reviewing worldwide literature, this paper aimed to systematically collate available information about the species Cunninghamia lanceolata. Based on the findings of the review, including the species’ floral characteristics; updated distribution; historical knowledge and heritage; growth and factors influencing its forests; soil nutrition and microbes; carbon storage; wood; and chemicals and essential oils, we have identified issues for consideration regarding the use of this species for big timber production in Vietnam.

The Knowledge of spatial-variability is critical for site specific nutrient management in soil fertility. Soil sample (149) were gotten from surface from 10 selected sites for preparing precise digital maps using point, line and polygon tools of the GIS (TNTmips 2010) software. Soil spatial variability typically defines variation in soil properties in surface soil such as fertility, pH, EC, soil organic carbon (OC), free CaCO3, mineralizable N,P2O5, K2O and S.

This article describes the difference of morphological and structural characteristics of the roots of Calamus plants growing in those two relatively distinct environments. The result showed that the roots of Calamus express the general characteristics of monocots; there was no secondary growth; the vasculation of the pillar demonstrated many differences to that of a general monocot.

A study was carried out to investigate the impact of altitude in soil physical and chemical properties in dry deciduous forest of Western Ghats of Tamil Nadu. Totally fifteen soil sample were collected from altitude of 416 m to 965 m. Soil physical and chemical properties such as pH, EC, Bulk density, organic carbon and water soluble carbon were studied with respect to altitude of the soil.

Nine typical pedons representing major quartzite-schistose landscape in tropical ecosystem of Goa viz., high hills, restricted summits, low hills, inter-hilly valley and narrow valley under varying land use were studied for their morphological characteristics, physical and chemical properties, soil genesis and taxonomy. The soils were slightly to moderately acidic in reaction, very shallow to very deep. Texture of the soils varied from gravelly sandy clay loam to gravelly clay on the hills and sandy clay loam to clay in valley soils.

Soil quality is one of the important factors controlling yields of the crops. Soil characterization in relation to evaluation of fertility status of the soils of an area or region is an important aspect in the context of sustainable agricultural production. Soil physicochemical parameters are more important that control its quality. Variation in nutrient supply is a natural phenomenon and some of them may be sufficient whereas others deficient.

Raising confined poultry generates waste that causes environmental problems, and that requires special handling in order to minimize these impacts. Poultry litter contains bird feces and feathers, spilled feed and the moisture-absorbing material used on the floor of the cages. This results in a residue with a high concentration of nutrients that may impact the soil due to the wide availability of poultry litter.

Fly ash has tremendous potential as a nutrient supplement and plays a favourable role in increasing growth performance. Fly ash constitutes above 70% of the whole amount of residues formed in power plants through combustion of coal. The addition of Fly ash in soil improves or changes various physical, chemical and biological characteristics of soil. Fly ash is used for the improvement of the soil texture, water holding capability, density, bulk density, porosity etc. by using in different ratio with soil. For the growth of plant and crop yield fly ash is used as ameliorate in acidic soils.

A field experiment was conducted during rabi seasons of 2015-16 and 2016-17 at Soil Conservation and Water Management Farm of C S Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur to find out suitable row ratio of linseed + lentil/barley in intercropping systems under rainfed condition. The results revealed that linseed performed better in intercropping than sole cropping. Among different cropping systems, linseed + lentil (3:1) exhibited maximum linseed equivalent yield of 13.33 & 12.11 q ha-1 and earned maximum production efficiency of 9.81 & 9.
