An experiment was carried out in Kittur Rani Channamma College of Horticulture, Arabhavi, Belgaum District, Karnataka state to know the response of soil application of diatomaceous earth (DE) as a source of silicon on leaf nutrient status of guava. Leaf sample under different treatment were collected and utilized for analysis of nutrient status. The highest macronutrient viz., Nitrogen (2.13%), Phosphorous (0.32%) and Potassium (0.

Soil quality is one of the important factors controlling yields of the crops. Soil characterization in relation to evaluation of fertility status of the soils of an area or region is an important aspect in the context of sustainable agricultural production. Soil physicochemical parameters are more important that control its quality. Variation in nutrient supply is a natural phenomenon and some of them may be sufficient whereas others deficient.

A study was conducted to assess the soil fertility status of major betel vine growing soils of Tumkur district of Southern Karnataka for sustainable soil management and betel vine production. Thirty soil samples were collected at two different depths (0-30 and 31-60 cm) from different betel vine plantations and analysed for pH, electrical conductivity, organic carbon and available macro and micronutrients.

The present study was conducted during the year 2018 and 2019 at Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola, Maharashtra with an aim to know the macro and micronutrient status of soils of Washim road farm, Dr. PDKV Akola. Grid based (GPS) forty-four (44) surface (0-20 cm depth) soil samples were collected by grid survey method at 200m distance from Washim road farm and analyzed as per standard procedure for judging chemical properties and available nutrient status of soil.

The effect of increasing levels of nitrogen on organic carbon and nutrient status under finger millet, maize and field bean, cultivated soil was studied in the experiment. Experiment was conducted at AICRPDA, under rainfed condition. Split plot design was used which consist of three levels of nitrogen viz., high (100% Recommended dose RD), medium (50% RD) and low (no application of nitrogen) as subplot and type of crop grown as finger millet, field bean and maize were grown as main plot under rainfed condition.

An investigation was carried out to estimate the level of selected macro and micronutrients in the soil and fodder of ten tehsils of Udaipur district of Rajasthan. The soil analysis indicated that moderate amount of major nutrients like Phosphorous, Potassium, Magnesium and calcium were present in these soils. This study indicated that the soils of this region were rich in micronutrients viz., Fe and Pb whereas, Mn, Cu and S contents were intermediate in quantity. On the other hand Zn was found to be deficient in these soils. The average Ca content in straws (0.

Macronutrient specially K and micronutrient malnutrition, and particularly deficiency in zinc (Zn), iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn), afflicts over three billion people worldwide. A pot culture experiment was conducted to study the effect of water stress on potassium and some micronutrient accumulation in straw and grains of wheat genotypes. Eight wheat genotypes were grown, 4 tolerant and 4 susceptible against water stress for the experiment. Moisture stress treatment to plants was given at anthesis through withdrawal of water.

The results showed that, these soil macro and micro nutrients ranges are also beneficial to the fruitfulness of tamarinds. Hence, it can be concluded that, there is no effect of soil macro and micro nutrients in unfruitfulness of sole orchard and fruitfulness of bund orchard in tamarind. It might be effect of shading in sole crops for unfruitfulness and in case of bund crop orchards it could get proper aeration and sunlight properly.
