Nowadays, most of the mountainous provinces and central highland of Viet Nam’s forests area are decreasing in quality as well as quantity seriously. Consequence, the problem of environmental pollution is becoming more and more serious in Viet Nam such as soil erosion, climate changes, land slide, flood and drought, air pollution, water pollution, etc.

This study shows the results of landslide susceptibility mapping for the southwest region of Quang Nam province using the Weights of Evidence (WoE) model. The input data consists of a landslide inventory and ten influencing factors, i.e., geology, distance to fault, elevation, relief amplitude, slope, aspect, rainfall, soil type, land use, and distance to road.

During the past decades, extensive parts of the Quercus brantii woodlands in the Zagros Mountains declined in size and habitat quality. We aimed to explore the variation of oak woodlands in the southern Zagros Mountains and to assess the vulnerability. We examined 49 plots at different altitudes and aspects, recorded the vascular plant species for tree and herb-layer composition, and collected data on topographic and edaphic factors.

The main findings included: (1) Total time for one process from harvesting to planting new forest was nearly 30 days. Both factors of vegetation and soil properties changed during four stages; (2) The infiltration rate of all locations in all stages followed the trend of decreasing after harvesting, burning, and recovering after planting new forest.

Soil erosion is a naturally occurring process in mountainous areas that affects all landforms. Located in Central of Vietnam, in the tropical monsoon climate Da Nang City is characterized by more than 70 percentage of area with hilly and mountainous topography. This study is objective apply the Universal Soil Loss Equation (ULSE) model developed by Wischmeier and Smith (1978) integrating with remote sensing data and Geographical Information System (GIS) tool to evaluate soil erosion risk in Da Nang City, Vietnam.

The problem of accidentally charging the land and rocks on the highways along the hills or mountains is one of the dangers affecting traffic when passing these roads. In recent years, along with the development of science and technology in talus construction. It has been limited to charge the landslide in these roads. However, constructing these taluses depends on soil, land conditions, rainfall, and runoff that is deployed suitable construction method.

In the past decades, next generation sequencing has improved our understanding of bacterial diversity in soil (Simon and Daniel, 2011). Nguyen et al. (2016) used 454 pyrosequencing to detect bacterial community in Korean ginseng cultivated soil in Korea. But the high cost of 454 pyrosequencing tools have limited small laboratories‟ access. Due to that, in 2001 Illumina developed MiSeq which have enabled deep sequencing of microbial communities at a lower cost (Caporaso et al., 2012).

The study of actinomycetes strains from mountain soils are important because they are an extreme environment which has not been extensively studied but is believed to have a large diversity of organisms that have not yet been discovered. On this basis, it is presumed that the chances of isolating novel actinomycetes from these soils are high.

Integrated nutrient management system (INMS) gained importance not only in increased yield of crops but also in maintaining the soil health and fertility. Keeping these in views a field experiment was conducted at Mountain research centre for field crops Khudwani (SKUAST-Kashmir) during 2013 (in progress since march 2008) to study the Effect of INM on soil carbon pools and soil quality in rice-brown sarson cropping system with different treatment combinations.

The impact of mountain cropping systems on soil properties, nutrient availability and soil carbon sequestration potential was studied during the years 2014 and 2015 in mid-hills of Himachal Pradesh. The four commonly occurring cropping systems namely vegetable, fruit, cereal crop and agroforestry were selected. Barren land in the region was considered as control. In total, there were five treatments which were replicated six times under randomized block design.

Vietnam is one of the most well-known countries in the world in terms of amphibians diversity. However, we have little information on whether or not amphibian populations are declining in this country. We use visual encounter surveys to obtain data on amphibian abundance and species diversity from two streams in Xuan Son National Park (stream 1 located in limestone mountain and stream 2 located in soil mountain).
