Lentil (Lens culinaris L.) is an important edible pulse crop. It is an important source of protein for human diet, plays a vital role as a rotational crop and enhances soil fertility. Sclerotium rolfsii causing collar rot disease on lentil crop is an important polyphagous pathogenic fungus causing substantial losses in quality and productivity (Punja and Grogan, 1988).

Environment degradation is the major threat confronting the world and rampant use of chemical fertilizer contribute largely to the deterioration of the environment. Soil fertility highly affected due to imbalance use of fertilizers that has deep impact on productivity and soil degradation. This study gives an idea to identification of effects of variable diet on growth and reproduction of Eisenia fetida which leads to enhancement of soil quality.

An understanding of soil microorganisms as part of soil system and interactions between the diversity of producers and of decomposers, have major consequences on the functioning of agricultural ecosystems. Soil microorganisms control the transformation and mineralization of natural compounds and xenobiotics. The soil micro biota, existing in high density and diversity, rapidly modify the energetic performance and activity rates to changing environmental conditions.

Conventional farming methods have significantly increased yields but in recent times due to the increased awareness of people about health, there has been increasing demand of organically grown foods. Organic farming helps in maintaining soil health and thereby produce healthy and quality food materials. This concern has prompted an expanding enthusiasm for organic farming methods since they may diminish a portion of the negative impacts of conventional farming on the earth.

Research objectives: The thesis is focused on hydraulic calculation of small drainage works across of road such as: (step cascades, steep slope, velocity of soil scouring at culvert outlets and scour at culvert outlets). So that, Proposed solutions and selection methods to reinforced or choose the mitigating energy method relevant with downstream culverts on the roads; find solutions for small drainage works across the road with terrain characteristics matching the natural environment conditions and climate in Laos.

Biofertilisers are defined in this application as microbial inoculants, isolated from soil or the rhizosphere of plants, assisting the mobilisation of soil nutrients such as N and P and others in the plant rhizosphere and thus promoting the growth rate and yield of plants. Successful biofertilisers can contribute to increases in food production in a highly sustainable manner, with economic and environmental advantages.

A pilot study was conducted to assess the feasibility of composting of source separated organic matter of municipal solid waste (MSW) generated in low, middle and high income areas of Karachi city with a population over 14 million. Results of MSW analysis indicate the presence of high percentage of biodegradable organic matter (71-74%), acceptable moisture content (40-50%) and C/N ratio (38-40:1). On windrow composting, not only the volume of waste was reduced but also produced a crumbly earthy smelling soil-like, compost material.

The Mekong River Delta (MD), the most downstream part of the Mekong river, is known as the biggest "rice bowl" of Vietnam. Currently, 2.4 million ha are used for agriculture. During the rainy season part of the Delta is flooded. Along the 600 kmcoast, the sea tide strongly influences the water quality by sea water intrusion. In addition, an area of 2-million ha is covered by acid sulfate soils. Also, the MD is very densely populated with intense associated water pollution.
