  • Through rigorous rural electrification projects, over 99.97% of Bhutan’s households now have access to electricity, which is predominantly generated from run-of-the-river hydropower plants. Despite this achievement, around 5% of the rural households still do not have access to electricity to meet their cooking load demands and, therefore, they extensively rely on firewood, LPG, and kerosene for cooking purposes. Apart from hydropower, penetration of other renewable sources such as solar and wind power in the country is negligible.

  • This study aims to examine the charging current of a solar energy hybrid generator with a Genset / Diesel and the time used to fill the accumulator in conditions without load and load conditions. The results showed that the solar energy hybrid generator and Genset / Diesel prototypes were able to produce electrical power at 08.00 - 17.00 in the average sunny weather of 290.7 Wp without loading and at the time of load of 236.4 Wp. At night, the energy stored in the battery is converted into electrical energy to supply the load. Thus it can save electrical energy.

  • The article characterizes the electric power industry in the Arctic regions of Russia. The regions of the eastern zone of the Russian Arctic differ significantly in terms of centralization of power supply. Centralized electricity supply in this territory is represented by only a few isolated functioning energy centers: Norilsk in the north of Krasnoyarsk Territory, Chaun-Bilibinsky, Anadyrsky and Egvekinotsky in the Chukotka Autonomous Region. The Arctic and northern regions of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) are completely located in the decentralized power supply zone.
