Ebook "Creation of new metal nanoparticles and their hydrogen-storage and catalytic properties" reports the discovery of metal nanoparticles having new structures that do not exist in bulk state and that exhibit hydrogen storage ability or CO oxidation activity. Research into the reaction of hydrogen with metals has attracted much attention because of potential applications as effective hydrogen storage materials, as permeable films, or as catalysts for hydrogenation.

ZnO doped with different concentrations (2, 4, 6, 8 and 10%) of ceria was synthesized by the conventional solidestate reaction method. X-ray diffraction spectra confirm that all the samples have a hexagonal structure. The structural properties of the samples were studied from X-ray diffraction data.

The phosphors are widely used in emissive displays. However, all currently used phosphors still need considerable improvement, such as lower current saturation, higher efficiency, and better chromaticity.

Solid-state reaction, co-precipitation, and sol-gel procedures were used to synthesize the Sr3Y1.95Ge3O12:0.05Eu3+ (SYGO: Eu3+) garnet structure. The morphological structure and photoluminescence properties of the samples were studied. Phosphors have morphologies and particle sizes that vary depending on the preparation.

This paper studies the effects of the sintering temperature on crystal structure, critical temperature (Tc) and excess conductivity of Bi-Pb-Sr-Ca-Cu-O (BPSCCO) system. Bulk BPSCCO samples were fabricated by the solid-state reaction method. Four different temperatures of 835 °C, 840 °C, 845 °C, and 850 °C were applied to sinter four different samples.

The partial substitution of potassium atoms by strontium atoms in initial matrix K3Fe2(PO4)3 with formation of complex phosphates K3−2xSrx Fe2(PO4)3 (x = 0.75, 1.0, and 1.25) was determined using a solid-state reaction method. According to powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) data, the prepared phosphates with x = 1.0 and 1.25 crystallize in a cubic system (space group P213) and belong to langbeinite family compounds, while for the sample with x = 0.75 a mixture of langbeinite-type phase and a minor amount of K3Fe2(PO4)3 was obtained.

In this research, a series of La0.7Sr0.3Co1−yFeyO3−δ (y = 0.0–0.4) was successfully synthesized by a solidstate reaction method and syngas production studies were performed using gas chromatography. Thermogravimetric analysis characterized the concentration of Fe3+, which gave a low H2/CO ratio over La0.7Sr0.3Co1−yFeyO3−δ without the presence of molecular oxygen. All samples possessed a purely rhombohedral structure. The incorporation of more Fe increased the lattice parameter and changed XRD peaks of the La1−xSrxCo0.8Fe0.2O3 from sharp and single to double.

The existence of cation-vacancy sites in fullerides might lead to long-range ordering and generate a new vacancy-ordered superstructure. The purpose of this work is to search whether or not long-range ordering of vacant tetrahedral sites, namely superstructure emerges in nonstoichiometric K1.5Ba0.25CsC60 fulleride. Therefore, K1.5Ba0.25CsC60 with cation-vacancy sites is synthesized using a precursor method to avoid inadequate stoichiometry control and formation of impurity phases within the target composition.

A new host phosphors of LaSr2AlO5 doped with Ce and Eu was synthesized using a solid-state reaction method and the synthesis conditions were investigated. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, photoluminescent (PL) and photoluminescent excitation (PLE) spectra. LaSr2AlO5:Ce shows a yellow emission at about 570 nm after an excitation at about 450 nm while LaSr2AlO5:Eu presents a red emission.

The (1–x)BiFe0.91(Mn0.47Ti0.53)0.09O3–xBaTiO3 (BFMT–BT) lead-free ceramics have been fabricated by using the conventional solid-state reaction method. The phase structure of BFMT−BT investigated with X-ray diffraction shows a single perovskite phase. Although 20% mol of Bi2O3 was added into the raw materials in excess, the evaporation of Bi3+ ions during calcining and sintering processes is from 20 to 30% wt. relative to other elements. The effect of BaTiO3 content on the electrical properties of BFMT−BT ceramic was investigated.

The Tb3+ rare-earth-ion-doped Ca2Al2SiO7 material has a tetragonal phase structure that was successfully synthesized using the solid-state reaction method under optimal conditions: sintering temperature: 1280 °C; time: 60 minutes; and the B2O3 flux agent content: 4% wt. The photoluminescence spectrum of Tb3+ doped Ca2Al2SiO7 phosphor consists of narrow lines with peaks at 545, 440, 462, 494, 590, and 622 nm that correspond to 4f electronic transitions of the Tb3+ ion. The peak at 545 nm has the highest luminescent intensity.

In this work, Ce3+ and Sm3+ ions doped/co-doped Ca2Al2SiO7 (CAS) phosphors were prepared by solid state reaction method at high temperature. X-ray diffraction results showed that the prepared samples had tetragonal single phases with selected synthesis conditions. Energy transfer process of Ce3+/Sm3+ pair in CAS phosphor was studied by photoluminescence (PL) and photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectra. Emission intensity of Ce3+ in Ca2Al2SiO7:xCe3+ , (1mol%) Sm3+ phosphors clearly varied with Ce3+ concentration; and reached to maximum value at the concentration of 2 (mol%).
