Drought is the most disastrous abiotic stress that severely affects agricultural productivity worldwide. Understanding the biological basis of drought-regulated traits, requires identification and an in-depth characterization of genetic determinants using model organisms and high-throughput technologies.

"Research on the potential of some sweet sorghum genotypes as bioethanol source under Mediterranean conditions" was conducted to determine the potential of bioethanol production from different sweet sorghum varieties under the Çukurova conditions with a Mediterranean climate. Experiments were conducted over two years in 2016 and 2017 on the experimental fields of the Eastern Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute in Adana province between June and October in randomized blocks design with four replications.

Transcription factors, including trihelix transcription factors, play vital roles in various growth and developmental processes and in abiotic stress responses in plants. The trihelix gene has been systematically studied in some dicots and monocots, including Arabidopsis, tomato, chrysanthemum, soybean, wheat, corn, rice, and buckwheat. However, there are no related studies on sorghum.

ERECTA (ER) is a leucine-rich repeat-receptor-like kinase gene (LRR-RLK) encoding a protein isolated from Arabidopsis. Although the regulatory functions of ER genes have been widely explored in plant development and disease resistance, their roles in drought stress responses remain to be clarified.

Sorghum is an important tropical cereal food, feed and fodder crop. It is important grain and forage crop of semiarid regions due to its high adaptability and suitability to rainfed low input agriculture. The present experiment consist of three varieties viz., SPV-2217, GS-23 and M 35-1 and nine treatments...

An experiment was conducted to exploit heterosis in F1 hybrids of sweet sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) and to identify parents with desirable genetic effects with respect to single-cut green fodder yield and its component traits. 48 F1 hybrids were evaluated to assess general and specific combining ability and gene action governing the green fodder yield and its attributing traits.

Combining ability analysis (GCA) enables plant breeders to select parental lines for crossing and provides the opportunity to understand the nature of gene actions involved in the inheritance of desired traits. In this study, we used a line x tester mating design to generate 30 hybrid crosses using three restorer (R) and ten cytoplasmic male sterile (CMS; A) lines.

This experiment was having two sub experiments viz., cross SPV245 x SPV 1822 (A X C) and SPV 1430 x SPV 1822 (B X C). Test crosses for this experiment was obtained by crossing the 10 MS lines with both the parents and their F1‟s for both the sets. In this way the each sub experiment was having 30 hybrids. Both the sub experiments were conducted in RBD with three replications following the 45 cm between rows and 10 cm between plants spacing. In present investigation difference between testers in line in both sets of TTC were significant.

The current work was focused on evaluating 24 sorghum accessions for fodder yield potential and nutritional quality during summer 2015 in the Department of Forage Crops, TNAU, Coimbatore. Plant samples were collected at 50% flowering stage and evaluated for nine fodder yield and 13 forage quality parameters. Grounded samples were used for assessing the fodder quality.

The integration of herbicides with some cultural operations and use of pre-emergence, post-emergence herbicides in combination with mechanical methods can prove to be more successful. This way integrated weed management is gaining importance in management of weeds for preventing losses and higher input-use efficiency (Ishya et al., 2007).
