Ebook "Radiometry in modern scientific experiments" is provided with information about methods of calibration of light sources and photodetectors as well as responsiveness of spectral instruments ranging from near infrared to vacuum UV spectral, 1200 – 100 nm, and radiation intensities of up to several quanta per second in absolute and arbitrary units. The author describes for the first time original methods of measurements they created and draws upon over 40 years of experience in working with light sources and detectors to provide accurate and precise measurements.

In ebook "Seaweeds and their role in globally changing environments" marine plants play a vital role in maintaining the balance of marine environments, while serving as a source of food for humankind and important chemical compounds. Microalgae and seaweed have enormous potential for reducing global warming and climate change. During photosynthesis algae grow, draw CO2 from the atmosphere, release oxygen, and produce solar biofuel.

In this paper, the Long-short term memory network model is used to estimate the direction of incoming signals for the Uniform Circular Antenna array. The performance of this method is evaluated based on the RMSE parameter and compared with the MUSIC algorithm in different cases such as the deviation of incident angle of radiation sources, and signal-to-noise ratio...

This study develops an online unmanned UAV path-planning strategy for autonomous search and localisation of RF emitter. The UAV is equipped with Receiver Signal Strength (RSS) sensors to localise stationary radio frequency (RF) emitter. A high-fidelity non-linear measurement model of RF propagation in an urban environment is adopted for this purpose. The measurement model of the likelihood function is considered a Gaussian mixture.

Radiation portal monitors (RPMs) are now stationed at strategic areas (airports, ports, etc.) to identify the illegal transportation of radioactive sources and nuclear items. RPMs are typically fitted with a PVT detector with a high recording efficiency. Radioisotope identification from the gamma spectrum acquired on this detector is normally not regarded due to the low resolution.

Radon is a natural source of radiation that contributes approximately 50 % to the public dose. Therefore, it is very important to assess and minimize the impact of radon on human health. In this study, we determined radon concentrations in groundwater samples in Phu Hoi Commune, Ductrong District, Lamdong Province by using the liquid scintillation counter of ALOKA LSC 6100.

Thermocouples are one of the most widespread used sensors for temperature measurements in several applications, thanks to their robustness, low cost and ease of installation. However, when used in high temperature environments or in the presence of flames or elevated hot sources, the measurement can be affected, for example, by radiative exchanges to and from the ambient.

Authorities responding to nuclear security events have to be prepared for a situation in which a neutron source or nuclear material is out of regulatory control. In such a situation, handheld neutron detectors are used to search for neutron sources or nuclear material, during either an overt or a covert search.

This dispersion highlights the danger of relying on individual calibrations, and is clearly undesirable. Here we continue our investigation into providing reliable calibration materials for trapped electron dating. A comparison of the apparent quartz β source dose rates shows that there is no significant dependence on the geological source of the quartz.
