The study indicated that the PPFM and PGRs could be effectively improving drought tolerance capacity of tomato crop under drought. Among the PGRs and different concentrations of PPFM used, PPFM (2%) was found to superior in improving RWC, photosynthetic rate, SPAD value and proline content. The anti oxidant enzyme, catalase activity was enhanced by PPFM (2%) and salicylic acid (100 ppm) treatments which has the ability to protect the plant under abiotic stress by nullifying oxidative damage.

Transgressive segregation is a very important phenomena where the segregating individual will possesses the value for a character which is exceeding the better parent. In the present study transgressive segregants were studied in four crosses for SCMR(SPAD Chlorophyll meter reading), SLA (specific leaf area), total biomass per plant, shoot weight per plant, root weight per plant, shelling out-turn per plant, harvest index per plant, pod yield per plant and kernel yield per plant. All the characters under study showed transgressive segregation in all the four crosses.

It is resulted that the growth characters of pea indicated significant effect of sowing dates as sowing dates, D1 (1st November) had recorded maximum plant height, number of leaves, number of branches, earliest 50% flowering and harvesting and SPAD value at all the growth stages, while minimum in D4 (16th December) date of sowing. Yield attributes traits revealed significant impact of date of sowing in garden pea. Highest number of pods per plant was recorded under D1 (1st November), D2, D3 and D4.

A field experiment was conducted at KVK, Kalburgi, on black soils. The zero tillage practices were followed since 3 years in five main plots and different reduced nutrient levels were imposed as subplots, by following split plot design. Every year same crop pigeonpea genotype TS-3R was grown. The prophylactic measures were undertaken against pests and diseases. Biological observations were analysed at 50 per cent flowering.
