Spark plasma sintering

In the present work, LLTO nano-powder was prepared by the high-energy ball milling technique. The as-prepared nano-powder was sintered by SPS technique for different isothermal hold durations. The microstructure, ionic conductivity properties were investigated in detail.

The fracture toughness of the composites showed a reverse trend. By adjusting the graphite content to 6 wt%, excellent control of microstructure could be achieved for the prepared composites with a higher amount of ZrC and lower content of other unfavorable phases.

In this work, consolidation of gas atomized Al84Gd6Ni7Co3 glassy powders into highly dense bulk specimens was carried out by spark plasma sintering. The highest relative density and hardness value can be obtained for sample sintered at 613 K are about 99.7 % and 495 HV, respectively.

The relative density and Vickers micro-hardness of W-K-TiC alloys was enhanced with TiC addition and the highest Vickers micro-hardness is 731.55. As the TiC addition increased from 0.05 to 2 wt%, the room-temperature tensile strength raised from 141 to 353 MPa. The grain size of the W-K-TiC alloys decreased sharply from 2.56 mm to 330 nm with the enhanced TiC doping. The resistance to thermal shock damage of W-K-TiC alloys was improved slightly with the increased TiC addition.
