Spatial point pattern analysis

Xem 1-8 trên 8 kết quả Spatial point pattern analysis
  • Spatial patterns of forest trees have been long recognized as evidences of underlying biological processes within forests. We used point pattern analysis methods and process-based models to detect the demography and dynamics of trees in a primary rainforest stand. A fully mapped 1-ha plot was investigated in the tropical rain forest of Cuc Phuong National Park. Trees were stem-mapped, diameter-measured at breast height and classified into species.

  • Structural and spatial patterns of tree species in forests are important indicators to explain which underlying mechanisms or processes regulating forest structure. In this article, techniques of spatial point pattern analysis were used to characterize structural and spatial patterns of two secondary rain forest stands in Cuc phuong National park, Vietnam.

  • In the forest structure, the spatial distribution of forest trees plays a very important role. The importance of the spatial distribution is to influence the sampling design of forest inventory, timber production, and the need for silvicultural treatments in a stand. The analysis results show that the difference between the two types is significant.

  • This effect from climate makes it nearly impossible to segregate ignition points from locations, which were burnt several hours or even several days earlier. An increase in secondary burnt locations makes it difficult for machine learning algorithms to establish causality links with anthropogenic and other groups of variables.

  • Niche differentiation is a prominent hypothesis explaining the maintenance of tree species diversity in tropical forests (Connell 1978). It suggests that different species are best suited to different habitats in which they are completely dominant and more abundant than in less suitable habitats (Harms et al. 2001). In addition, distribution patterns of tropical trees are generally more clumped or aggregated than random (Condit et al. 2000). Furthermore, environmental heterogeneity (difference in soil, elevation, slope, etc.

  • High-throughput expression profiling experiments with ordered conditions (e.g. time-course or spatial-course) are becoming more common for studying detailed differentiation processes or spatial patterns. Identifying dynamic changes at both the individual gene and whole transcriptome level can provide important insights about genes, pathways, and critical time points.

  • Cropping pattern refers to the proportion of area under different crops at any given point of time in a unit area, or the yearly sequence or spatial arrangement of crops on a given area. An attempt was made to compare the cropping pattern followed by the members and nonmembers of Water Users’ Associations in Upper Krishna Project command area. The Upper Krishna Project (UKP) is one of the major projects in Karnataka and is the most prestigious multipurpose (irrigation and power) project. It is the economic lifeline of chronically drought hit districts of North Karnataka.
