The Sarcophyton sp., are very strong and dominant in many coral reef areas. Sarcophyton species are characterized by a distinct sterile stalk, a broad, flared, smooth, mushroomshaped top, with a wide distribution and dominance in numerous coral reef areas extending from the Red Sea and eastern Africa to the western Pacific Ocean.

In this study, our overall goal is to characterize spatial attributes of neighborhood trees by applying the current techniques of nearest neighbor statistics. For a better understanding of structural units, we three structural units for each species analyses, such as mingling - index, mingling - dominance and dominance uniform angle index.

NF-κB is widely involved in lymphoid malignancies; however, the functional roles and specific transcriptomes of NF-κB dimers with distinct subunit compositions have been unclear. Using combined ChIP-sequencing and microarray analyses, we determined the cistromes and target gene signatures of canonical and non-canonical NF-κB species in Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) cells.

Ebook "Social-ecological restoration in paddydominated landscapes (Ecological research monographs series)" aims to do so by incorporating various disciplines of natural and social sciences. Strategies for sustainable agriculture are reviewed, including financial incentives for farmers and the use of flagship wildlife species such as the crested ibis (toki) to promote ecological restoration. With the increasing popularity of environmentally friendly rice farming in parts of Asia and the western United States, this book offers model cases for sustainable management of paddy-dominated landscapes.

All species within a community either directly or indirectly interact with each other. Such interactions serve as the nucleus of both ecological and evolutionary processes. This study focused on dominant tree species' interspecific associations and the stability of evergreen broadleaved forest stands in Phu Quoc National Park in Kien Giang province of Vietnam.

The results showed that (1) the dominant species in the three forest types had a species mingling degree ranging from medium to complete mixture; (2) the target trees were found to have a dominant height compared to their nearest neighbors; (3) the distribution patterns of trees in the stands varied from regular to clumped; and (4) the crowding index indicated a distribution density of trees from sparse to dense.

Grasslands dominate land cover nationally and globally, and their composition, structure and habitat value are strongly influenced by the actions of domestic and wild grazing animals that feed on them. Different pastures are characterised by varying opportunities for selective feeding by livestock; agronomically improved, sown swards generally consist of a limited range of plant species whereas longer-term leys and semi-natural grasslands are characterised by a more diverse mixture of plants.

Phytoplankton species composition, abundance, biodiversity indices and their influence by environmental conditions were examined in Thi Nai lagoon using data from four surveys in 2004, 2008, 2009 and 2020. A total of 367 taxa of phytoplankton belonging to ten groups was recorded, of which diatoms were dominant with over 60% of the total species.

Gobies are dominant in terms of both species diversity and abundance in estuarine habitats, but little is known about their early developmental stages in the coastal waters of Vietnam. To examine species diversity of goby larvae and juveniles, monthly collections were carried out using a small seine net from the Ka Long estuary in the northernmost Vietnamese coast, from September 2014 to August 2015.

This present study carried out sample collections along the coast of Southern Viet Nam, including the coast sites, offshore islands, and Spratly (Truong Sa) islands. External morphological and anatomical characteristics of two dominant species, Halimeda macroloba and H. opuntia, were caparisoned. The genetic marker tufA was applied to find the haplotype diversity and network among Vietnamese and worldwide populations.

Synchrotron-based X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), specifically X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) spectroscopy, indicated the dominant species of As in soil and sediment samples was arsenate [As(V)], which is similar to the chemical form of As in the groundwaters of this region. No evidence of arsenite [As(III)] was identified in any of the solid-phase samples, including earthworm castings.

Habitat conditions may shape the abundance and community structure of planktonic fauna. In this study, we investigated whether reservoirs with different locations and drainage basins also differed in the structure and abundance of zooplankton. The studies were conducted in 2010–2011 between June and October in the Vistula Lagoon and Lake Łebsko. The zooplankton was dominated mainly by small eurytopic organisms belonging to Rotifera. Plankton crustaceans showed a limited diversity of species. Copepods were predominant, while Cladocera were observed sporadically in more freshwater habitats.

The venom of two dominant species of wolf spiders, Pardosa sumatrana Thorell and Pardosa birmanica Simon, was extracted and characterized. Insecticidal potential of crude venom and selected peptide fractions (i.e. 35-kDa fraction of both spiders) was evaluated in the laboratory using Rhopalosiphum padi (Linnaeus) (Homoptera: Aphididae) as a model pest. Results of the study showed that both the crude venom and the protein fractions caused significantly higher mortality in treated aphids compared to the control.

Mosquitoes are one of the organisms subjected to frequent insecticide application due to their status as vectors that carry a wide range of life-threatening diseases. Turkey has climatic and other ecological features required for the breeding and living of 50 species from 8 genera. The members of the Culex pipiens complex are the dominant mosquitoes among them. In order to design more sustainable insecticide resistance management strategies, it is important to investigate the genetic structure of mosquito populations using molecular techniques.

Stone moroko (Pseudorasbora parva) is considered to be one of the most invasive fishes, dispersing rapidly all over Europe and also in the freshwaters of the Baltic Sea basin. A recent survey carried out in the catchment of the lower part of the Odra River (Poland) in 2015 and 2016 revealed a large new population of stone moroko, which had colonized the creek Wardynka.

The objective of this study is to provide information on the zooplankton community and physicochemical properties of Uzungöl Lagoon. Sampling studies were performed at monthly intervals for abiotic factors and community parameters between September 2015 and August 2016. The variations of zooplankton community were estimated using Shannon-Weiner diversity (H’), Pielou evenness (J), species richness (S), frequency, and dominancy indices. The relationship between environmental variables and community parameters were analyzed with Pearson’s correlation test and redundancy analysis (RDA).

The aim of this study was to demonstrate and evaluate the diatom communities in the copper infected areas readily associated with the Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) at the bank of the Subarnarekha River. This study was based on three sampling sites commonly designated as high copper (>100 μg.L-1 ), medium copper (≤100 μg.L-1 ) and low copper (≤50 μg.L-1 ) contaminated area. Results indicated the detailed taxonomic description of 31 species that are dominant or less dominant over these contaminated area. Among the identified taxa, 10 were recorded as new to the Jharkhand state.
