This study aimed to estimate the effect of three concentrations (75 µg/mL, 150 µg/mL and 300 µg/mL) of the European raspberry (Rubus iadeus) on the selected quality parameters of bovine spermatozoa after 0h, 2h, and 24h of in vitro culture. Sperm motility was evaluated using the Computer-assisted sperm analysis (CASA) system. The mitochondrial activity was detected by the metabolic (MTT) assay.

Many genes important for reproductive performance are shared by both sexes. However, fecundity indices are primarily based on female parameters such as litter size. We examined a fertility mouse line (FL2), which has a considerably increased number of offspring and a total litter weight of 180% compared to a randomly bred control line (Ctrl) after more than 170 generations of breeding. In the present study, we investigated whether there might be a parallel evolution in males after more than 40 years of breeding in this outbred mouse model.

The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of supplementation of glutathione and α-tocopherol in TRIS and skim milk based extenders on motility parameters of ram semen at refrigeration temperature. The research findings of the present study shown that, addition of glutathione improved motile sperm and reduced immotile sperm percentage than α-tocopherol in skim milk than TRIS egg yolk based extenders. Addition of glutathione improved rapid progressive sperm percentage than α-tocopherol in TRIS egg yolk than skim milk based extenders.

The laboratory examination of semen quality parameters is an indirect way of assessing male fertility. The objective of this research was to study the semen quality parameters of Large White Yorkshire (LWY) boar ejaculates, which had the minimum sperm progressive motility necessary for being selected for further processing. The pigs were maintained at the Centre for pig production and research, Mannuthy, Kerala. A total of 24 ejaculates were collected from seven boars using gloved hand technique.

Numerous studies have identified specific body systems affected by the hazardous effects of the cigarette smoking particularly the respiratory and cardiovascular systems. The effect of smoking on male reproduction has also been studied where semen quality was investigated in different cross-sectional studies including infertile patients with conflicting results. This article aimed to assess the relationship between smoking and male infertility.

The study was conducted to detect haptoglobin in seminal plasma (SP-Hp) of Awassi rams and the effect of the breeding season on its concentration, along with determining the correlation with its concentration in serum (S-Hp) and main semen variables. Pre-warmed artificial vagina was used to collect semen samples biweekly from five Awassi rams. Semen samples were evaluated for volume, concentration and sperm motility. Blood samples were collected 10–30 min after semen collection. The concentration of serum and seminal plasma Hp was determined using ELISA.

This article presents a brief review of the past and present literature pertinent to laser effects on sperm motility parameters, improvement of oocyte maturation and characterization of semen in livestock. The aim was, on one hand, to make the readers aware of such knowledge and on the other hand to trigger the interest of the animal reproduction scientific community in attempting some laser techniques that have not yet been fully exploited in the field of artificial insemination.
