The higher yield was recorded in Qaa trial with 255 g/m2 for LR31 and 244 g/m2 produced by LR32, while 211 and 200 g/m2 were recorded in Rihane-3 and Assi checks respectively. Principal components analysis allowed to distinguish several landraces that were clustered next to the checks sharing similar features of plant height, spike length and yield per m2 .

Two consecutive field experiments after rice crop were conducted during 2011-12 and 2012-13 in the Crop Research Centre, of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Uttar Pradesh. Ten different treatments were implied to evaluate the residual effect of vermicompost and applied inorganic fertilizers on wheat crop. Significantly taller plants than T2 during both the years were measured in those treatments where 4 ton vermicompost was applied in rice.

The study revealed highly significant differences for all the yield and its contributing traits, indicating the presence of high genetic variability. The phenotypic and genotypic co-efficient of variation (PCV and GCV) was high for grain yield per plant followed no of productive tiller per plant and moderate for plant height, spike length and thousand grain weight.

Combining ability analysis was done in Line X Tester mating design by using 7 lines, 3 testers and 21 F1‟s in a randomized block design with two replications during 2013-14 in sowing under water stress and non-stress environments. Genetic divergence of thirty genotypes of barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) was assessed under normal and limited moisture conditions using Mahalanobis's D2 statistics (Mahalanobis, 1936). It was revealed that thirty genotypes were grouped into seven clusters in both the environments. Genetic variability, heritability, correlation and path analysis were estimated among 59 accessions of 08 quantitative characters in durum wheat. The highest value of GCV and PCV were observed for grain yield per plot, tillers per meter row length, spike length, grains per spike and test grain weight. It is also observed that the traits like grain yield per plot, tillers per meter row length, grains per spike and test grain weight exhibited high GCV also possesses high genetic gain indicating preponderance of additive gene effect for these traits.

Attempts has made to find the inheritance pattern of free threshability and other quantitative traits in emmer wheat has fragile rachis and non-free threshing kernels by crossing a non free threshing variety dicoccum DDK-1025, with two advanced free threshable mutant lines (ML-1 and ML-2) during Rabi 2013. What is an important food crop in India but of the entire world. The study indicates that the analysis of the variance showed highly significant differences for all the characters. Genetic variability indicated that high estimates of GCV and PCV were observed for the traits like 1000 grain weight, grains per spike, spikelets per spike, spike length and yield per plot. Further, high heritability coupled with high genetic advance as percent of mean was also observed, indicating the less influence of environmental variance in these characters.
