Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the staple food and being the most important ingredient of the food basket for most nations in Asia. The declining productivity of rice and its availability of per capita is therefore a policy concern. Nevertheless, the production of rice in Malaysia is primarily implemented by adopting the conventional technique. This technique has increased the production cost of rice and became a constraint to achieving the production potential for the farmer.

The major constraint is low productivity of vegetable crops by following the nonrecommended cultivation techniques. The results of front line demonstration revealed that average yield of 225, 325, 138 and 250 q/ ha was obtained in Ropar, Nurpurbedi, Sri Anandpur Sahib, Chamkaur Sahib and Morinda blocks of district Ropar during the year 2017-2020, respectively.

The present study was conducted during 2017-18 in Raipur district of Chhattisgarh, with the objective to compare the cost & return and identifying constraints in paddy cultivation under different sowing techniques (SRI, Transplanting, Broadcasting and Line sowing). System of rice intensification (SRI) is the new technology of rice production. First time in Chhindwara district of MP, SRI technique was introduced among tribal farmers. It was observed that average productivity in SRI was found 35.54 qt ha-1 as compared to District average productivity of 22.5 qt ha-1 . Average input cost of cultivation was Rs 15127.68 ha-1 and outcome was Rs 42796.25 ha-1 and benefit cost ratio increases from 2.1 to 2.72.
