Gobies are dominant in terms of both species diversity and abundance in estuarine habitats, but little is known about their early developmental stages in the coastal waters of Vietnam. To examine species diversity of goby larvae and juveniles, monthly collections were carried out using a small seine net from the Ka Long estuary in the northernmost Vietnamese coast, from September 2014 to August 2015.

The results showed that Melanoides tuberculata was infected Xiphidio cercariae and Furcocercous cercariae whereas Xiphidio cercariae and Parapleurolophocercous cercariae were recovered from Bithynia sp. No cercariae were found in Filopaludina sumatrensis, Pomacea sp., Sermyla tornatella, Sinotaia lithophaga, Tarebia granifera and Thiara scabra.

The present study evaluates the presence, persistence and distribution of thymol during a five-month sampling period; before, during and after the application of thymol treatment in field conditions. Moreover, its impact on the development of bee brood was also studied at different development stages which consist of larvae, prepupae, pupae and adult honeybee.

Nineteen species of ptyctimous mites were found in 20 samples collected in Cameroon: 15 samples from the Southwest region, near the ocean, and 5 samples from the Northwest region, inland. Two new species: Euphthiracarus (Pocsia) inaequatus sp. n. and Steganacarus (Rhacaplacarus) alius sp. n. are described and figured. Six species are new to Cameroon. The so far unknown instars of Mesoplophora (Mesoplophora) invisitata Niedbała, 1983: larva, proto-, deuto-, and tritonymph are described. The deutonymph and tritonymph of M. (M.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of four different chilling periods, varying from 24 to 120 h, on the mean survival rate, larval and pupal development durations and the pupal and adult weight of Calliphora vicina (Robineau-Desvoidy) (Diptera: Calliphoridae) under laboratory conditions at 4 ºC in 2018 at Ondokuz Mayıs University. Chilling reduced the survival rate of the pupae of all developmental stages.

The effects of an aminoglycoside antibiotic, streptomycin, on survival rate, development time, and adult longevity of Drosophila melanogaster (Diptera: Drosophilidae) were examined by adding on the artificial diet at different concentrations in laboratory condition. The effect of streptomycin on malondialdehyde (MDA) and protein carbonyl (PCO) contents, superoxide dismutase (SOD), and catalase (CAT) activities in all developmental stages of D. melanogaster was also investigated.

Haliotis diversicolor is commercially important species. The trochophore and veliger are distinct larval stages in gastropod development. Their development involves complex morphological and physiological changes. We studied protein changes during the embryonic development of H. diversicolor using two dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE) and label-free methods, tandem mass spectrometry (MS/ MS), and Mascot for protein identification.

High-resolution transcription start site (TSS) mapping in D. melanogaster embryos and cell lines has revealed a rich and detailed landscape of both cis- and trans-regulatory elements and factors. However, TSS profiling has not been investigated in an orthogonal in vivo setting. Here, we present a comprehensive dataset that links TSS dynamics with nucleosome occupancy and gene expression in the wandering third instar larva, a developmental stage characterized by large-scale shifts in transcriptional programs in preparation for metamorphosis.

Anisakis simplex sensu stricto and Anisakis pegreffii are sibling species of nematodes parasitic on marine mammals. Zoonotic human infection with third stage infective larvae causes anisakiasis, a debilitating and potentially fatal disease. These 2 species show evidence of hybridisation in geographical areas where they are sympatric. How the species and their hybrids differ is still poorly understood.

Macrobrachium rosenbergii, is one of a major freshwater prawn species cultured in Southeast Asia. White tail disease (WTD), caused by Macrobrachium rosenbergii nodavirus (MrNV), is a serious problem in farm cultivation and is responsible for up to 100% mortality in the post larvae stage.

In marine invertebrate life cycles, which often consist of planktonic larval and benthonic adult stages, settlement of the free-swimming larva to the sea floor in response to environmental cues is a key life cycle transition. Settlement is regulated by a specialized sensory–neurosecretory system, the larval apical organ.

The purple sea urchin, Strongylocentrotus purpuratus, has long been the focus of developmental and ecological studies, and its recently-sequenced genome has spawned a diversity of functional genomics approaches. S. purpuratus has an indirect developmental mode with a pluteus larva that transforms after 1–3 months in the plankton into a juvenile urchin.

Honeybee development consists of four stages: embryo, larva, pupa and adult. Embryogenesis, a key process of cell division and differentiation, takes 3 days in honeybees. However, the embryonic transcriptome and the dynamic regulation of embryonic transcription are still largely uncharacterized in honeybees, especially in the Asian honeybee (Apis cerana).

Larvae and juveniles of Saddleback silver-biddy (Gerres limbatus Cuvier, 1830) were collected using a small seine net from the bank waters of the Tien Yen Estuary, Quang Ninh Province, in northern Vietnam. These larvae and juveniles are compressed and relatively slender. Weak spinations are present on the head and on the preopercle.

This study was carried out to determine non-ionic infrared waves effect to control important stored insects as an alternative technique which reduces the chemical pesticide usage. The insect Ephestia cautella was used as a sample of store insects. Eggs, larvae, pupa and adults were exposed to different time (15, 30 and 60second) at 40 °C. Results also showed that infrared waves (IR) had ability to kill different stages of E. cautella. And this effect increased by increasing of exposure period.

A comparative experiment study was carried out with chawki and direct brushing tasar silkworm on the tasar silkworm’s host plant Arjun leaves. The chawki method was carried out during I and II instars larva followed succeeding instars brushed in common plot whereas, direct brushing method was reared entire life cycles in common block plantation plots. The results indicated duration of silkworm larva was observed four days earlier with reared in chawki method than direct brushing method. Mortality rate of silkworm was found minimum under Chawki method.
