  • The historical rainfall data for the period of 37 years (1981-2017) of Junagadh district in Gujarat were analyzed for selection of most appropriate probability distribution of rainfall. From the analysis, it was found that one single probability distribution has not been found appropriate to represent all the data sets though Gamma distributions, Gumbel max.distribution and generalized extreme value distribution were found promising for most of the data sets.

  • In the present study attempts have been made to identify a most important weeks for wheat yield at district level. Weekly data of 18 meteorological weeks on (47th to 52nd weeks on first year and 1st to 12th Standard Meteorological Weeks, SMW for 2nd year) on minimum temperature over a span of 20 year (1995 to 2015) has been used along with the annual wheat production data (used as detrened yield for fitting of model) for Faizabad district of eastern U.P. Distribution of temperature has been recorded for wheat crop. Yield of wheat crop was recorded yearly for the study.

  • Investigation on seasonal incidence of sucking pest of okra and its relationship with weather parameters was carried out at Instructional Farm, College of Agriculture, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh, Gujarat during summer 2016 and 2017. The data revealed that peak population of jassid (16.1 jassid/3leaves) and whitefly (15.7 whitefly/3 leaves) was observed at 17th and 16th standard meteorological week of summer 2016, respectively. Whereas, in summer 2017 the peak population of aphid (17.8 aphid/3 leaves) was observed at 16th standard meteorological week.

  • Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) is an important Solanaceous crop widely grown in different parts of the country. Incidence of Phomopsis fruit rot was observed at 39th standard week (October 2016) till 3rd standard week (January 2017) and incidence ranged from 2.0-22.0%. Almost 10 time increase in fruit rot was recorded within 30 days during October 2016 when the average temperature 23.65ºC with 55.5% relative humidity having 9.3 sunshine hours.

  • A field experiment was conducted at Agricultural Research Station, Badnapur (Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth (VNMKV), Parbhani), India during Kharif season of 2015-2016. A total of 20 pigeonpea genotypes were screened for their response against Melanagromyza obtusa Malloch infestation.   • Drought analysis offers a better scope for predicting the occurrence of drought to help in crop planning in rainfed regions. In view of this, an attempt has been made to evaluate drought reoccurrence patterns of weekly, seasonal, monthly and annual rainfall according to the severity, based on 17 years (2000-2016) data of Mungeli, Chhattisgarh. The observed data shows that 38th and 39th standard meteorological week experienced maximum (58.82 %) disaster drought and followed by SMW 24th and 26th. It was also observed that no drought condition was experienced maximum 52.94 in SMW 32nd.
