This cross-sectional cohort study assessed the inequalities in oesophageal carcinoma risk by age, sex and nativity in Kuwait: 1980–2019. Methods Using oesophageal cancer incidence data from the Kuwait National Cancer Registry, relevant Kuwaiti population data and World Standard Population as a reference, age-standardized incidence rates (ASIR) (per 100,000 person-years) overall and by subcohorts were computed.

Associations between different cancer types are known. The affirmation of the risk for non-ovarian cancer after ovarian borderline tumors (BOT) is, however, sparse. Aim To analyze the risk of subsequent or simultaneous cancers in women with BOTs compared with the general female Swedish population.

This study assessed the incidence and excess mortality of hip fractures among inpatients aged 20–40 years in a nationwide population database in Taiwan. The high SMRs found in the present study suggest that young adults with former hip fracture should be closely followed up to prevent early mortality.

This study aims to determine cancer risks among patients with type 2 diabetes through a follow-up study on a nationwide population-based cohort that included Taiwanese diabetic patients and general population in Taiwan as well as to estimate the population attributable fraction (PAF) of site-specific cancer risks that can be attributed to type 2 diabetes in Taiwanese population by using standardized incidence ratios (SIRs, 95% CI).

Studies have shown that morbidity and mortality rates due to cancer among recent immigrants are lower than those among the native-born population. The objectives of this study were to describe the incidence of colorectal and breast cancer among immigrants from major regions of the world compared to Canadian-born residents of the province of Ontario and to examine the role of length of stay and neighborhood income.

Cervical cancer (CC) incidence in Estonia is the third highest in Europe, even though an organised nation-wide screening program has been in place since 2006. The aim of the study was to analyse the incidence and survival of CC in Estonia, focusing on age, morphology and stage at diagnosis.

Initial primary colorectal cancer (IPCRC) has a high risk of developing into second primary colorectal cancer (SPCRC). Right-sided colon cancer (RCC) and left-sided colon cancer (LCC) have different characteristics and are considered to be two different entities.

Strong associations exist between Balkan endemic nephropathy (BEN) and upper urothelial carcinomas (UUCs). However, the common etiology between the two remains unclear and there are no studies to date that visualize UUC risks in Croatia.

A field experiment was conducted during Kharif 2015-16 in central research farm of Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture Technology and Sciences, Allahabad to evaluate the field efficacy of certain chemicals against shoot and fruit borer on Brinjal. The occurrence of Shoot and Fruit Borer commenced from 34th standard week (August fourth week) with an average population of 0.90 larvae/plant. The shoot and fruit borer population increased and gradually reached its peak level of 6.56 larvae/plant at 40th standard week (October first week).

Pancreatic cancer has the highest mortality rate among cancers due to its aggressive biology and lack of effective treatment. Gemcitabine, the first line anticancer drug has reduced efficacy due to acquired resistance. The current study evaluates the toxicological effects of Orthosiphon stamineus (O.s) and its marker compound (rosmarinic acid) in combination with gemcitabine. O.s (200 or 400 mg/kg/day) and rosmarinic acid (32 mg/kg/day) were administered orally and gemcitabine (10 mg/kg/3 days) intraperitoneally either alone or in combination treatment for fourteen days.

For comparing Aussiedler incidence and mortality with the German/Saarland population, indirect standardization was used. Compared to the method of direct standardization, the indirect method is advantageous when the stratum-specific rates of one of the populations to be compared are based on small numbers. In this case one can use the more stable rates of the larger population for the indirect standardization, thus gaining robustness with regard to sampling variation (Breslow and Day, 1987).
