This study implicated the soft coral-associated Micrococcus sp. strain A-2-28 (following relative Micrococcus flavus LW4T) for large-scale cultivation, chemical analyses, and biological activities. Whereas crude extract of the strain A-2-28 inhibited only Staphylococcus epidermidis, metabolites profiles and pure compounds from strain A-2-28 showed that this strain produced phytohormone (IAA), metabolized some new compounds which were almost inactive for biological tests.

Staphylococcus caprae is an animal-associated bacterium regarded as part of goats’ microflora. Recently, S. caprae has been reported to cause human nosocomial infections such as bacteremia and bone and joint infections. However, the mechanisms responsible for the development of nosocomial infections remain largely unknown. Moreover, the complete genome sequence of S. caprae has not been determined.

S.epidermidis previously dismissed as contaminants is now emerged as one of the major nosocomial pathogens exhibiting resistance to various drugs including Methicillin. Their ability to form biofilms contributes to their pathogenicity contributing to increased drug resistance. Proper infection control services can certainly bring the rates of this virulent bacteria down in hospitals. The study was conducted for a period of 6 months (Febrauary 2019 to July 2019).

Staphylococcus epidermidis is a common commensal of the skin and mucous membranes of humans. However, it is a common cause of nosocomial infection especially infection associated with the insertion of biomedical devices. Glycans have been shown to mediate vast majority of biological processes and its alterations have been reported to be used as biomarkers and applied in diagnosis of malignancies and infections. The absolute mean Optical Density (OD450nm) of the biofilm was calculated as 0.248± 0.044SD and the biofilm was observed to strongly adhere to the microtitre plate surface.

The purpose of this study was to detect the changes in the protein profiles for bacteria which were subjected to heat and cold- shock compared to the control. For heat shocked test, all bacteria viz., Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Bacillus cereus were inoculated into nutrient broth tubes and incubated at 37°C for 24 hours.

A total of 107 Cutaneous leishmaniasis patients studied during the period from October 2012- april 2013 in TUZ General Hospital. They were 57% males, their ages ranged from 1-60 years old. Clinically, 58% of patients had multiple lesions, while 42% had single lesion. It was found that 36.5% of patients had dry type while 63.5%had wet type lesion. The highest rate of lesion was on upper limbs 57% while the lowest rate in the ear 1%. Highest rate of cases were recorded during February 32.1% while lowest rate of cases were recorded in April 3,37%.

Aims of the study are to detect biofilm producing Staphylococcus epidermidis isolated from various clinical specimens. Total 73 Staphylococcus epidermidis isolates were collected from clinical samples like blood, post-operative wound swabs, IV catheter tips, catheterized urine, and exudates received from various clinical departments. The study was carried out over a period of one year.

Biofilms are the form of life for great majority of oral bacteria and contribute to various oral diseases. To maintain oral health a balance between the human host and the microbes is essential. The excessive formation of oral biofilm results in intraoral diseases such as dental caries, gingivitis and periodontitis. The ability of pathogenic bacteria to form a biofilm increase their resistance to antibiotics.

Staphylococcus epidermidis (S. epidermidis) is a common pathogen in ocular infection. Mutations contribute to drug resistance. We intended to identify mutations in genes within the quinolone resistance determining region (QRDR) of fluoroquinolone-resistant S. epidermidis ocular isolates and to study their phenotypic and genotypic correlation. A total of 50 phenotypically fluoroquinolones-resistant S. epidermidis isolates were studied. Fluoroquinolones susceptibility was evaluated by Kirby- Bauer disk diffusion method.

Biofilm formation by Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis is a common cause of chronic infection and intravascular device failure. Biofilms are resistant to almost all available drugs rendering them difficult to treat. Thus, there is a need to identify natural compounds which can inhibit biofilm formation. A total of 52 multi drug resistant isolates of Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis were isolated from various clinical samples. Isolates were identified by standard microbiological procedures.

Staphylococcus epidermidis is one of the most multiple resistances to antibiotics in the recent years. Therefore, practically-prescribed antibiotics in the treatment of these strains are not effective. Plant-derived antibacterial is one of the most interesting sources of new therapeutics.

The main causative pathogens of NS in our hospital were Gram-positive cocci, among which coagulase-negative Staphylococcus spp such as S. epidermidis and S. haemolyticus were the main conditional pathogens; among Gram-negative pathogens, Klebsiella pneumoniae were most frequently isolated and showed widespread resistance to penicillins and cephalosporins.

To identify bacterial contamination of cellular phones used by healthcare workers (HCWs) and to investigate antibiotic resistance patterns of recovered isolates. In addition, we assessed the possible risk factors for contamination of mobile phones. Mobile phones were sampled from HCWs across inpatient, outpatient and intensive care wards in Mansoura Emergency Hospital. Isolated bacteria were identified and subjected to disk diffusion test to detect their antibiotic resistance patterns. Sampled mobile phones had a contamination rate of 90.4% (P= 0.00).
