The paper investigates the flexural performance of reinforced concrete beams in which fly ash from Vinh Tan power station was used to replace original Portland cement in the proportions of 0%, 10%, 20% and 40% by weight. Twelve reinforced concrete beams with the dimensions of 100×150 mm in cross section and 1000mm in length were cast and cured in water.

The present study was carried out during Rabi seasons of 2017-18 & 2018-19 at Main Experimental Station, Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Ayodhya (U.P.). The experimental materials comprised of twenty genetically diverse varieties/strains and their 105 crosses. The 26 parents were involved in a crossing programme to develop a line x tester set (21 lines + 5 testers + 3 checks) during Rabi season of 2017-18in Randomized Block Design.

An investigation was taken up at Maize Research Station, Agricultural Research Institute, PJTSAU, Hyderabad during 2013-14. F1 material was generated by making crosses between BML 6 × CML 181 and BML 7 × CML 181for introgression of opaque 2 gene from Mexican donor CML181 through molecular breeding approach. The current study deals with the conversion of non QPM inbred lines to QPM with more than 4% lysine and 0.95% tryptophan.

A study was carried out using 48single cross experimental maize hybrids developed from 16 lines (with high test weight and per se performance) and three testers crossed in Line × Tester design and were evaluated at three diverse environments, viz. A new Single cross Pop corn hybrid IHPC-1203 was developed at Main Maize Research Station, AAU, Godhra, Gujarat and it was evaluated across the locations all over India during Kharif 2016 to Kharif 2018. This hybrid involves two diversified inbred parentsi.eIGPF-21 as female and IGPM-23 as male parent.

The present investigation was carried out to study heterosis, combining ability and gene interactions over environments of parents and their crosses in kharif 2018. The experimental material, consisting of eleven lines, five testers and their resultant 55 hybrids along with a commercial hybrid check „OH-102‟ of okra were sown in three different locations of south Gujarat viz., College farm, NMCA, NAU, Navsari (E1), Cotton Research Sub Station, NAU, Achhalia (E2) and Regional Rice Research Station, NAU, Vyara (E3).

An investigation was carried out to explore relationship, if any between combining ability and stability of 27 maize inbred lines. To obtain the general combining ability effects 27 newly developed inbred lines were crossed with four testers in a line × tester mating design and the progenies along with parents were evaluated for three seasons namely summer-2014, rainy season-2014 and summer-2015.

The experiment was carried out with a RIL (F7) population (100 lines out of 189 lines available) raised by crossing between Gobindabhog and Satabdi. They were grown in the Regional Research Sub- Station, Sekhampur, and Nadia. Out of eleven quality parameters, kernel breadth, ratio of length and breadth after cooking, elongation ratio, aroma and colour of kernel possess significant difference between two parents. Similar set of alleles for 100 SW is present in both parents as evidenced from the fact that 85% of RILs was within the narrow range of two parental values.

This study aimed to find the gene action, GCA and SCA effects for yield, its components and micronutrients and their association with each other. For this, thirty six crosses (hybrids), nine parents and two checks ICTP 8203 Fe and ICMB 98222 (totalling 47 genotypes) were evaluated during Kharif 2014 at three locations viz., IARI, New Delhi (zone A), IARI Regional Centre, Dharwad (zone B) and National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources, Regional Station, Jodhpur (zone A1). These locations represented all pearl millet growing zones.

The present study was jointly undertaken at the Frozen Semen Laboratory, U.T. of Jammu & Kashmir, Hukkal, Jammu and Division of V.G.O., F.V.Sc & A.H., SKUAST- J, R.S.Pura, during the period between December 2017 and May 2018. This investigation was carried out with the objective to study the effect of antioxidant semen additive ascorbic acid on cryopreservation of semen. Semen samples (n=10) from mature cattle bull stationed at Frozen semen laboratory, U.T. of Jammu & Kashmir, Hukkal, Jammu, were used to evaluate the effect of ascorbic acid additive at post-dilution and at post thaw stage.

An experiment comprised of six male sterile lines, eight inbred testers of pearl millet, their 48 hybrids and two standard check (GHB-538 and GHB-558) was conducted at Regional Research Station, Anand Agricultural University, Anand, Gujarat in Kharif 2014 for studying the extent of hybrid vigour in F1 for grain yield and its components. The cross JMSA-9904 x AIB-15 showed highest and significant standard heterosis for total effective tillers, ear head girth, grain yield per plant and panicle harvest index.

Line × tester analysis was undertaken to assess the magnitude of heterosis in 32 interspecific heterotic group hybrids (G. hirsutum x G. barbadense) of cotton for seed cotton yield and its components developed by crossing eight elite hirsutum lines with four elite barbadense testers during Kharif 2010-11 at Main Agricultural Research Station, Dharwad.

The rice variety Ratnagiri-8 (IET 25493; RTN 28-1-5-3-2) was evolved from the cross between IR64 and Karjat 184 using former parent as female through pedigree method of selection. The above variety is midlate in duration (135-138 days in Kharif), Semi-dwarf (102-110 cm plant height). Ratnagiri 8 rice variety recorded 38.52% higher grain yield over HYV’s medium slender check Palghar 1 pooled over five years testing in Station Trial.
