This study shows several empirical models to predict the corrosion rate and their limits of application. The predicted values of steel corrosion rate using four empirical models are compared with the measured values of a series of 55 experimental samples collected from the literature.

Steel corrosion affects the failure mechanism of deteriorated reinforced concrete (RC) beams. Meanwhile, there is a lack of research on the shear behavior of corroded RC beams, particularly corroded steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) beams. This paper investigates the shear behavior of corroded SFRC beams with a 1.5 shear span-to-depth ratio.

The shear behavior of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) beams has been assessed in a large number of previous studies. However, the shear strength of corroded SFRC beams without shear reinforcement is still an unresolved topic. In this paper, the finite element models of non-corroded and corroded SFRC beams have been constructed and verified regarding load-displacement curves, crack patterns, and failure modes.

In this work, nano-SiO2 have been used as nanocarriers for loading Ce(III) ions (SiO2@Ce3+). After loading, silane coupling agent has been used to modify these nanocarriers (m-SiO2@Ce3+). Then, these modified nanocarriers were added as green inhibitors into the inner epoxy coating matrix, which was based on the epoxy resin (DER 671X75) and hardener (polyamide Epicure 3125). Morphological study by FE-SEM showed that the spherical nanoparticles (mSiO2@Ce3+) were in size < 100 nm and dispersed rather homogeneously into the polyme matrix.

In the present study, a complex between 8-hydroxyquinoline and cerium (III) (CeHQ) was synthesized in the presence of triethylamine. Afterwards, the complex was characterized by Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and Thermo-Gravimetric Analysis (TGA). The inhibition efficiency of the Ce-HQ complex for the corrosion of carbon steel, evaluated by both Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) and Potentiodynamic Polarization (PP) plots, reached 90 % after 2 h of immersion in a 0.01 M NaCl solution.

This paper addresses the SS corrosion behavior in a modified fuel performance code in order to evaluate its effect on the global fuel performance. The mechanism of corrosion inhibition was explored and supplemented by adsorption and surface morphological studies. Quantum mechanical investigations on corrosion behaviour of compounds were also conducted and satisfying correlation was noticed between the results of corrosion measurement methods and quantum mechanical evaluations.

The austenite and ferrite phases of the 0.5%Gd-0.8%B-stainless steels are about 88:12. The average austenite and ferrite grain size of the plane normal to rolling, transverse and normal directions of the hot rolled specimens are about 5.08, 8.94, 19.35, 23.29, 26.00 and 18.11 [mm], respectively. The average micro-hardness of the as-cast specimen is 200.4 Hv, whereas, that of the hot-rolled specimen are 220.1, 204.7 and 203.5 [Hv] for the plane normal to RD, TD and ND, respectively.

Caffeine was isolated from dry green tea leaves and used as corrosion inhibitor. The aim of this paper is to study the corrosion inhibition behavior of caffeine with its different concentrations (from 0.01 g/L to 3.00 g/L) for CT3 steel in 1M HCl solution by the curve polarization measurements and surface examination studies. Experiment result showed that: as the concentration of caffeine increases, the inhibition efficiency increases; %IE max is approximately 83.27% at concentration of caffeine 3.00 g/L.

Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy ở các nồng độ dịch chiết nước lá chè xanh khác nhau đều có khả năng ức chế ăn mòn thép thường. Hiệu quả ức chế ăn mòn nói chung tăng khi nồng độ dịch chiết tăng.

The corrosion rate of the CT3 steel in 1 N and 2 N hydrochloric acids was measured by electrochemical polalization method. The measuring values of icorrosion showed that alcoholoamines influence on the inhibition corrosion of the CT3 steel in the hydrochloric acid solution and these values are increased in the order: monoethanolamine < diethanolamine < triethanolamine. In the solution of HCl 1 N and 2 N, the inhibition on the corrosion of steel CT3 of mixture of alcoholamines and potassium iodide is more effective than partial components.
