  • Pulses are an important source of high quality protein complementing cereal proteins for pre-dominantly substantial vegetarian population of the country. Pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan (L.) Mill sp.) is the second most important pulse crop of India after chickpea and is grown for it’s grain as dhal and green seed as a vegetable. A field experiment was conducted at College of Agriculture, Vishweshwaraiah Canal Farm, Mandya during kharif 2017 to study the effect of foliar application of calcium nitrate, boron and humic acid on growth and yield of transplanted pigeonpea.

  • A field experiment was conducted during summer season of 2016 at Sardarkrushinagar located in the north-Gujarat agro-climatic region. The experiment was laid out in factorial randomized block design with replicated thrice. Greengram was sown at distance of 30 cm × 10 cm with seed priming recorded significantly higher growth attributes viz. plant height, seed yield (1035 kg/ha), stover yield (2334 kg/ha), net monetary returns (Rs. 17672/ha) and B: C ratio (1.76).

  • The present study was aimed to examine the effect of two varieties, four levels of sulphur (0, 20, 40 and 60 kg S/ha) and four levels of zinc (0, 2.5, 5.0 and 7.5 kg Zn/ha) making 32 treatment combination under split plot design with three replications. Results showed that significantly increased umbels/plant, umbellets/umbel, seeds/umbel, seed (1409 kg/ha), stover and biological yields, and net returns (Rs 39396/ha) were obtained with coriander variety RCr-436 as compared to variety RCr-435.

  • The present investigation was undertaken at Post Graduate Research Farm, College of Agriculture, Kolhapur during rabi 2016 with the objective to study the effect of integrated nutrient management on growth, yield and economics of wheat in Inceptisol. The experiment was laid out in a randomized block design with three replications and ten treatments. Studies revealed that the growth characters, yield attributes, grain and stover yields were influenced significantly due to conjunctive use of different organic manures with inorganic fertilizers.

  • A field experiment was conducted during Rabi season of 2015-2016 at Agricultural College and Research Institute, Killikulam to find out the most effective weed control measure study weed dynamics, productivity and economics of hybrid maize as affected by integrated weed management. None of the pre-emergence herbicides alone provided desired control of weeds. However, inclusion of one hand weeding at 30 DAS with preemergence herbicides markedly improved weed control efficiency (WCE), yield attributes, grain and stover yield.

  • A field experiment was conducted at the Coconut Research Station, Balaramapuram, Thiruvananthapuram, during the summer season to work out an economic nutrient management schedule for baby corn intercropped in coconut garden. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with 10 treatments replicated thrice, using the baby corn hybrid, G 5414 as a test variety. Plant height (125.16 cm) at 30 days after emergence (DAE), number of leaves per plant at 45 DAE (11.87), leaf area index at 15 DAE (0.365), 30 DAE (2.25) and 45 DAE (4.28) and dry matter production (24203.

  • In India rice-wheat cropping has been adopted widely which leads to deterioration of soil fertility and decrease in water use efficiency. In addition to these change in climate, vagaries of monsoon also leads to decrease in yields of the crop. Conservation agricultural (CA) based management practices together with nutrient management have demonstrated to produce more with less by these way it also conserve and sustain natural resources. In north eastern India maize crop is grown alternative to rice based cropping system due to variability in climatic condition and degradation of resources.
