  • The studies involving water bugs (Hemiptera) biodiversity and ecology are very few and have mainly focused on taxonomy. We conducted research and evaluation of diversity indexes of water bugs (Hemiptera) in different landscapes including forest habitats, agricultural lands, ponds, streams from 16 sampling sites in Bac Kan, Lao Cai, Ninh Binh and Ha Tinh provinces. As a result, a total of 43 species of 23 genera of 10 families were recorded.

  • Freshwater ecosystems have a greater value for biodiversity per surface area than terrestrial and marine ecosystems. Streams and lakes are notably prone to biodiversity loss, being the greatest threats habitat destructions and nonnative species. The aim of the present study is to assess the fish composition of lotic and lentic water systems of an island ecosystem (Gökçeada Island, Turkey), which is poorly studied, and to highlight the entry routes and possible impacts of translocated fish species in an island ecosystem.

  • Vegetation Cover in Rawdat Norah was estimated to be 0.635 Km 2 or 16.2% of the total area of the Rawdat which is 3.924 km2 . The main dominant vegetation is Rhazya strica. Some morphometric properties and the characteristics of the watercourse system affecting the capacity of the Wadi Al-Atsh watershed to transform rainwater into surface runoff water had been determined. Accordingly, the drainage area of Wadi Al-Atsh has been calculated and found to be 13899.7 km2 , where the watershed length reaches 170.9 km, and the average width of Wadi Al-Atash watershed also reached 81.3 km.

  • Ephemeropteran, dipteran, and trichopteran were found predominant orders comprising 11, 8 and 8 genera respectively. Heptagenids, baetids and leptophlebids; chironomids, ceratopagonids and tipulids and hydropsychids, psychomyids and polycentropodids were dominant sub-groups/families among ephemeropterans, dipterans and trichopterans respectively.

  • The study on diversity of fish in the Hau River was continuously implemented during 12 months (July, 2011 to June, 2012) at An Giang (upstream), Can Tho (middle stream) and Soc Trang (downstream). At each area, sampling was conducted at 2 sites (main river and its tributary) using the main fishing gear as trawl net in combination with other available fishing years such as gill nets, fixed nets, lift nets… and at the local fish markets.
