Takotsubo syndrome is a sudden and an acute form of transient cardiac dysfunction, triggered by mental and physical stress. The treatment for Takotsubo syndrome is not well understood and is incompletely established. Takotsubo syndrome is partly thought to be caused by coronary ischemia under sympathetic nerve activation.

Prehabilitation and recovery programmes aim to optimise patients’ physical fitness and mental wellbeing before, during and after cancer treatment. This paper aimed to understand the impact of such a programme on emotional well-being in individuals undergoing cancer surgery. The programme was multi-modal, containing physical activity, well-being and nutritional support.

The flow of a thixotropic Bingham material past a rotating cylinder is studied under a wide range of Reynolds and Bingham numbers, thixotropic parameters, and rotational speeds. A microstructure transition of the material involving breakdown and recovery processes is modeled using a kinetic equation, and the BinghamPapanastasiou model is employed to represent shear stress-strain rate relations.

Emulsified isoflurane (EIso) is a novel intravenous general anesthetic, which can provide rapid anesthetic induction and recovery. EIso preconditioning could attenuate heart, lung and liver ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. We tested the hypothesis that intravenous pretreatment with EIso would protect kidneys against I/R injury by inhibiting systemic inflammatory responses and improving renal antioxidative ability.

Sevoflurane is commonly usedin pediatric anesthesia due to its non-irritating airway properties, and rapid induction and emergence. However, it is associated with emergence agitation (EA) in children. EA may cause injury to the child or damage to the surgical site and is a cause of stress to both caregivers and families.

The protean chemical properties of mercury have long made it attractive for diverse applications, but its toxicity requires great care in its use, disposal, and recycling. Mercury occurs in multiple chemical forms, and the molecular basis for the distinct toxicity of its various forms is only partly understood. Global transcriptomics applied over time can reveal how a cell recognizes a toxicant and what cellular subsystems it marshals to repair and recover from the damage. The longitudinal effects on the transcriptome of exponential phase E.

Exercise related leg pain (ERLP) is a common lower limb overuse injury characterised by pain located between the knee and ankle that occurs during activity. The high incidence of the condition, subsequent interference with participation in physical activity and substantial recovery time, highlights a need for effective interventions.

This study was aimed at quantifying yield loss due to high temperature induced damages on head rice recovery in rice. Fifteen rice varieties were evaluated over 3 seasons and their head rice recovery was estimated. Results of this study revealed that day temperature had no influence on the head rice recovery whereas night temperature had negative impact on head rice recovery at p < 0.05.

Recent reports indicate that oxidative stress induced by reactive oxygen species is associated with the pathobiology of neurodegenerative disorders that involve neuronal cell apoptosis. Here we conducted a crosssectional study to evaluate serum levels of oxidative stress in cervical compression myelopathy.
