  • In this paper, the structural characteristics of the modified celluloses from acacia pulp in Vietnam were investigated and compared to other pulps. The total crystalline index (TCI), the lateral order index (LOI) and the hydrogen bond intensity (HBI) were evaluated by the FTIR spectra. The size of crystallites was considered by XRD patterns.

  • The results showed that four sulfate polysaccharides have branched structure, their chemical compositions are galactose, fucopyranose, fucofuranose, mannose, some other monosaccharides and sulfate groups in different positions. The sulfate polysaccharides from Sargassum aliqualium showed anticoagulant activity and higher sulfate content fraction has higher activity.

  • The new second peak of the O-O PRDF at the high pressure originates from oxygen atoms of the edge-sharing bonds. Thus, there is rearrangement of O atoms. O atoms have tendency to more order arrangement that leads to form some oxygen hcp and fcc structure in the model at high pressure.

  • The water-soluble crude polysaccharides obtained from the liquid culture broth of Cordyceps militaris by ethanol precipitation were fractionated by DEAE cellulose and Sepharose CL-6B column chromatography. This fractionation process resulted in three polysaccharide fractions that were termed CPSN Fr I, CPSN Fr II, and CPSN Fr III. Of the fractions, CPSN Fr II was able to upregulate the functional events mediated by activated macrophages, such as production of nitric oxide (NO) and expression of cytokines (IL-1 and TNF-).

  • The analysis of IR, UV-vis, MS, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, COSY, and HSQC illustrated that HL1, HL2, HL3 were bidentate ligands and bound to the metal through the imine nitrogen and the net negatively charged sulfur in thiol form. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that the chelating ligands in the Pt(II) complexes were in the trans configuration.

  • Cordyceps gunnii (berk.) Berk (C. Gunnii) is well known as a Chinese rare caterpillar fungus and has similar pharmacological activity with C. sinensis. In this work, a high-molecular-weight polysaccharide (CPS) was isolated and purified from the mycelia of C. gunnii. The total sugar content of CPS was amounted to 92.84%. The result of HPLC indicated that CPS was a homogeneous polysaccharide. The estimated average molecular weight of CPS was 3.72 ×106 Da. The specific rotation of CPS was recorded [˛]25 D = +134.2◦.

These fuels include agricultural and non-agricultural biomass, chemical and hazardous wastes, petroleum-based wastes, and miscellaneous waste fuels.   • Automotive Mechanisms In this chapter, we illustrate the usefulness of the systematic design methodology by enumerating a few automotive related mechanisms, including variable-stroke engine mechanisms, constant-velocity shaft couplings, and automatic transmission mechanisms.
