Studies on physical activity’s psychological benefits are generally fewer than those on its physiological benefits, and these limited studies have mostly investigated its impact on cognitive functions. Studies exclusively investigating physical activity’s effects on happiness are rare.

Periodic structural health survey is very crucial to guarantee the safety and serviceability of civil engineering structures. The study "Applications of Gaussian Steerable Filters in detecting structural damages" aims at developing a computer vision tool to detect defects on surface of civil engineering structures by means of Gaussian steerable filters. This tool has been developed with Visual C#. NET to facilitate its implementations. The developed software programs have been tested with images containing various defects such as crack, pothole, and spalling.

This leads to a large number of false alarms if the detection method cannot isolate the various impacts due to changing environmental conditions or damage. To address this issue, there are many methods that are proposed to detect the damage of bridges under environmental temperature changes. In this paper, some machine learning methods that eliminates the effect of temperature on the damage detection are explored.

In order to test the proposed model and hypotheses, a survey was conducted on a sample including 370 young consumers in Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. The findings of structural equation modeling indicate that attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control toward organic food purchase are positively related to purchase intention. In addition, health consciousness, trust in labeling and certification, and modern self are found to be significant predictors of attitude toward buying organic food. The research findings were discussed and future research directions were provided.

Periodic structural health survey is an important task to ensure the safety and serviceability of buildings. This study aims at developing a computer vision tool to segment images capturing surface of reinforced concrete structures. The image processing technique of Gabor filter is used with k-Means clustering algorithm and principal component analysis to automatically segment damages on concrete surface including spall, crack, bughole, and stain.

A healthy, productive and well-motivated workforce is the key agent for overall socioeconomic development. To assess the health of leather industry workers, selection of nine leather industries from Kanpur was done purposively by taking a sample of three units each from leather processing, leather production and combined leather units having both leather processing and production. Similarly, 90 workers were selected randomly, taking 30 each from selected three leather units to assess their health hazards. Structured interview schedule was used for data collection.

Of reported 2003-2007 structure fires in health care properties, an estimated 57% showed sprinklers present, with higher percentages for hospitals (71%) and nursing homes (65%) and a much lower percentage for clinics and doctor’s offices (28%). Sprinklers were also reported as present in half or more of all reported fires in laboratories (60%), manufacturing facilities (52%), theaters (50%), and prisons and jails (50%). In every other property use, more than half of all reported fires had no sprinklers.

Tuberculosis remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in low-resource countries. One contagious patient can infect 10 to 20 contacts in these settings. Delays in diagnosing TB therefore contribute to the spread of the disease and sustain the epidemic. Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess delays in diagnosing tuberculosis and the factors associated with these delays in the public hospitals in Moundou and Ndjamena, Chad.

Household and individual variables were collected using an extensive household survey that includes information on household structure, household consumption, expenditure, income, health indicators and educational attendance. The survey was conducted between June and October of 2002. In this subsection, we will comment on the main variables used in the analysis. Table 1 gives the descriptive statistics and definitions of the variables. Though the survey was administered to 122 municipalities, we can only have 102 in our estimating sample.
