Geophysical methods are effective tools for geotechnical analysis. In particular, the two-dimensional electrical resistivity method is widely applied in the determination of broken, cracked, and karst cave structures in many countries around the world. The information given by this method plays an important role in preventing and mitigating the risk of geological hazards caused by geological structures.

In this paper, we analyze theories of bank stability on market concentration, financial deepening, bank income structure and international debt situation by using panel data for 18 emerging countries. Our results show that alternative financial system plays an important role in the bank risk behavior. The potentially important policy implication is that policies supporting financial deepening or promoting liquidity in the banking industry might not necessarily improve banking stability.

In this paper, we develop a dynamic general equilibrium model, where agents are heterogeneous in terms of wealth and entrepreneurial talent, to study the effects of financial inclusion. From our structural analytical framework, we obtain some important properties, which are helpful to understand the effect of financial inclusion in capital allocation and poverty reduction. On the basis of this framework, one could make a quantitative evaluation of the policy impact of financial inclusion by calibrating the model with data of different countries.

The European microfinance market is characterized by varying legal and regulatory frameworks, different economic realities, differing political philosophies towards socio-economic activity, and different financial sector structures (and history). 5 Banks are subject to comprehensive regulation, even though local differences exist given that EU directives may not have been fully transposed into national law. In some European countries, only regulated banks may engage in micro- lending. Non-banks are typically not subject to banking regulation.

Latin America, in the first decade of the 21st century, remains as exciting, interesting and unpredictable as ever. In 2004 Haiti, the first Latin American country to gain its independence, celebrated its second centenary. But although the structure and organization of government, politics, production, international relations and trade in the region are by now well established, important changes are under way, and the Latin American countries are becoming more important than ever before in world politics as a bridge between the USA and the rest of the world.

This analysis of East Asian corporations allows us to study the subject of earnings informativeness in a different ownership context from that of the research on U.S. corporations. Our research results are also rich in policy implications. In general, our results support Ball, Kothari, and Robin (2000) by finding that policy makers should consider a country’s overall institutional environment before prescribing a comprehensive set of rules and regulations for corporate reporting.

The increasing number of countries for which a Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) has been compiled testifies to the usefulness of this integrated data framework. Considerable resources are always involved in the construction of a SAM, for it provides a comprehensive description of an economy with emphasis on distributive aspects. This means that, unlike other data systems, incomes and expenditures of several categories of households and their relation to the production structure, the balance of payments and transactions by other institutions are shown.

In no department of Pathology has advance been so fitful and interrupted as in that dealing with blood changes in various forms of disease, though none now offers a field that promises such an abundant return for an equal expenditure of time and labour. Observations of great importance were early made by Wharton Jones, Waller, and Hughes Bennett in this country, and by Virchow and Max Schultze in Germany.
