COPD affects the quality of a patient’s life and leads to death. Identifying TCM symptoms and clinical patterns proportions in the community will make diagnosis and treatment more effective. This study wished to survey stable COPD patients to find out the proportions of symptoms and patterns in TCM to create a basis for further practice.

The most common causes of death in neonatal period are infections (32%) including septicemia, meningitis, pneumonia, diarrhea and neonatal tetanus. It has also been documented that birth asphyxia contributes for 29% of deaths in neonatal period. Patients presented to department of pediatrics (NICU), were examined clinically by pediatricians and 122 cases of neonatal septicemia were identified on the basis of the signs and symptoms and were included for the study. This is followed by collection of blood for culture after obtaining informed expressed written consent.

Among the various mastitis pathogens, Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is identified as a chief etiological agent responsible for subclinical and chronic mastitis. Samples were collected from the clinically affected cattle showing typical symptoms of mastitis. 156 samples were screened by clinical symptoms specific for mastitis from the delta region of Tamilnadu. On the basis of cultural and biochemical properties, 52 isolates were presumptively identified as S. aureus. These 52 isolates were subjected to antibiotic sensitivity test, for which 15 antibiotic discs were used.

Clinical studies on ear infections, microbiological evaluation and therapeutic management in canines
A total 116 dogs were presented with various affections of the ear, among them 67 (57.76%) cases were having the symptoms of otitis. The higher incidence was found in the age groups of 1-5 year (44.77%, n=30) followed other age groups. The breed wise incidence of was found to be highest in the Labrador (35.82%, n=24) followed by other breeds. 35 cases had bilateral (52.23%), 21 dogs had only right side ear (31.34%) involvement and 11 dogs had left side ear (16.41%) infection. Out of total 67 cases 58.20 percent (n=39) cases were male and 41.80% percent (n=28) cases were female.

Dengue is the most important and rapidly spreading mosquito-borne viral disease in the world.
