  • The present investigation was carried out to study the prevalence of bacterial pathogens responsible for subclinical mastitis in buffaloes in and around Pantnagar in the state of Uttarakhand, India and the antibiogram pattern of the bacterial isolates to selected antibiotics. A total of 109 buffaloes were screened for SCM based on physical examination of udder, California mastitis test (CMT), Somatic cell count (SCC) and Differential cell count (DCC) on quarter’s milk samples. The quarter’s milk samples showing CMT reaction ≥ 2, SCC ≥ 0.

  • o investigate the changes that occur in inflammatory mediators and reproductive hormones levels in mastitis crossbred cows, the crossbred cows were screened for SCM incidence (24) by mCMT, SCC, electric conductivity of milk and abnormal milk. Based on this, the cows were divided as group I (n=8) - no clinical symptom of mastitis (healthy), group II (n=8) - showing chronic sub-clinical mastitis (SCM), group III (n=8) - showing clinical mastitis symptoms (CM). Blood samples were collected from group I and II the cows at weekly intervals from day 54 to 138 of lactation.

  • An investigation was conducted on subclinical mastitis at State University dairy farm, Mansbal in which 100 lactating Jersey cross bred cows were taken in to study. The animals showing clinical signs of mastitis were excluded from the study. The study was conducted to determine the prevalence of subclinical mastitis along with the causative agent.

  • This study assessed the expression of an important TLR9 gene in spontaneous bovine sub-clinical and clinical mastitis caused by E. coli. The total RNA was isolated from milk somatic cells converted as cDNA using oligo (dT) primers. Relative quantitation of mRNA of TLR9 was analysed by RT-qPCR system. The mRNA expression of TLR9 gene in sub-clinical mastitis was higher (3.22 fold) than clinical case (1.09 fold) when compared to normal bovine case.

  • Staphylococcal mastitis is a major and costly problem of dairy cattle all over the world. In the present study, Clinical (n=165) and sub-clinical mastitic milk samples were processed for bacterial isolation. All the 83 isolates recovered on primary isolation were confirmed as Staphylococcus spp. based on morphological and biochemical characteristics. Based on the result of tube coagulase test, 55 (66.27 %) isolates were considered as a Staphylococcus aureus, whereas 28 (33.73 %) isolates were considered as Coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS).

  • In the present investigation, 235 quarter milk samples from 59 apparently healthy lactating buffaloes were collected to compare different diagnostic tests for detection of Sub-Clinical Mastitis (SCM) in Buffaloes. Out of 235 quarter milk samples, 17.02 per cent, 16.59 per cent, 16.17 per cent, 14.49 per cent, 14.46 per cent and 17.02 per cent quarters were tested positive for SCM by bromothymol blue (BTB) strip test, electrical conductivity (EC), California mastitis test (CMT), N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase (NAG-ase), Somatic cell count (SCC) and Cultural Examination, respectively.

  • Goat milk has higher Somatic Cell Count (SCC) and the ability to correctly interpret somatic cell counts in goat depends on an understanding of the various factors which may affect the number of somatic cells. The present study was carried out to determine the effect of non-genetic factors on Sub Clinical Mastitis (SCM) and to investigate the relationships between these factors with Somatic cell count (SCC) in 105 Sirohi goats raised at Sheep breeding farm Fatehpur, Sikar in Rajasthan, India.

  • Bovine mastitis, the most significant disease of dairy herds. It has a huge effect on dairy farming economics due to the reduction in milk production and treatment cost. The severity of this problem can be classify into subclinical, clinical and chronic form and its degree is dependent on the nature of the causative pathogen, age of animal, immunological status, health status and lactation status of the animal. Subclinical mastitis is difficult to detect due to absence of any visible indications.

  • The present study was aimed to determine prevalence and etiology of sub clinical mastitis in an organized buffalo dairy farm of LUVAS, Hisar, India along with antibiogram against their respective causative organisms. A total of 401 quarter milk samples were collected from 102 apparently healthy buffaloes. According to the IDF criteria the percent animal wise prevalence of sub clinical mastitis on the basis of somatic cell count (SCC) (>500000/ml) was 2.94, whereas on the basis of cultural examination it was 29.41. However, the quarter wise percent prevalence was 18.20 and 0.

  • Sub clinical mastitis is a hidden form of mastitis, causes a huge economical loss to the farmers. So, present study was done with the aim to find out such management practice to detect and control sub-clinical mastitis in the dairy cattle under field condition that can easily be adopted by the farmers. Eighty cattle having sub clinical mastitis were selected by Surf Field Mastitis Test (SFMT) and divided into two groups i.e., control (N=40) and treatment (N=40). Tri sodium citrate @ 30 mg/kg body wt. was supplemented to the cows orally till 10 days in the treatment group.

  • The genetic markers in inflammatory responses during mastitis afford a reasonable way for improving milk production in the Egyptian buffalo breed. Among them is the interleukin 8 Receptor Gene (IL8RB) (CXCR2); a chemokine receptor gene augments the neutrophil migration during infection. To understand its role better during mastitis in Egyptian buffalos, twenty-five dairy animals representing the normal, sub-clinically, clinically and chronically affected buffalos were randomly selected from different districts.
