Substantial yield increases
-
Food security is an issue that has come under renewed scrutiny amidst concerns that substantial yield increases in cereal crops are required to feed the world’s booming population. Wheat is of fundamental importance in this regard being one of the three most important crops for both human consumption and livestock feed; however, increase in crop yields have not kept pace with the demands of a growing world population.

Exploiting the production potential of chickpea through agronomic management is one of the alternatives to feed the pulse requirements of ever growing population. For this, efficient planting methods have contributed substantially to the spectacular increase in chickpea yield and to improve water productivity per unit of water use. In order to study the planting methods in chickpea was at the domain of R.V.S. Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya - ZARS, Morena, Madhya Pradesh during Rabi 2017-18 and 2018-19.

A developed human society in today’s era needs advancement in food production and yield to feed the ever blooming monstrous population. The existing feed supply resources are however confronted with a variety of environmental complexities like the global warming, curtailment of the agricultural lands and deterioration of the resources supporting the crop production. Abiotic stress like heat, cold, drought, flood, heavy metal etc create unfavourable condition for crop plant which effect its growth, survival and reproduction.

Zinc deficiency not only affects crop yields, but also nutritional quality and human health. Microbial transformation of unavailable forms of soil zinc to plant available zinc is an important approach contributing to plant zinc nutrition. Therefore, Nutrient uptake and biological activity in Tomato crop by zinc solubilizing bacterial isolates was tested under glass house condition. The study consisted of six treatments, each with five replications, including five different zinc solubilizing bacteria and uninoculated control, out of five bacteria B. aryabhattai was used as reference strain.

Thermo-sensitive genetic male sterile (TGMS) lines have been widely used in two-line hybrid rice breeding. The two-line hybrids have increased rice yields substantially. However, the effect of environmental temperatures on the fertility conversion is still not fully clear.

Pesticides have substantially contributed for controlling of pests and increasing crop yields. But over the years there is growing concern about indiscriminate use of pesticides in agriculture. A survey was conducted among 150 farmers in cauliflower and brinjal cultivating areas of Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Una districts Himachal Pradesh, India in 2015- 2016. Most commonly used pesticides applied by the farmers on cauliflower and brinjal were malathion, chlorpyrifos, cypermethrin, carbendazim and mancozeb.

Okra or lady's finger, (Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench) commonly known as bhindi in India is the most popular vegetable of the family malvaceae, is an important vegetable of the tropical and subtropical region. It is valued for its medicinal properties to cure renal colic, leucorrhoea, chronic dysentery and goitre due to high iodine content in fruits. In okra, a large number of varieties have been developed but substantial increase in productivity could not be realized. There is a necessary to improve the yield per unit area to achieve the increased production from a limited land.

The Present study was carried out at Bharatpur district of Eastern Rajasthan during 2015- 16, 2016-17 and 2017-18. Potato is one of the most important vegetable crops of the country. The development of the Agriculture is primarily depends on the application of the scientific technologies by making the best use of available resources. One of the major constraints of traditional potato farming is low productivity due to non management of weeds. To increase the production, productivity and quality of agricultural produce, on farm testing are being conducted at various farmers’ field.

Subsurface drip irrigation (SDI) can substantially reduce the amount of irrigation water needed for corn production. However, corn yields need to be improved to offset the initial cost of drip installation. Air-injection is at least potentially applicable to the (SDI) system. However, the vertical stream of emitted air moving above the emitter outlet directly toward the surface creates a chimney effect, which should be avoided, and to ensure that there are adequate oxygen for root respiration.

Although Vietnam is the second largest rice exporter in the world, the country has only recently met the demand for sustainable food supply at a national level, and not yet at a household one. In the early 1970s, the average rice yield in the Mekong River Delta (MRD) was 1.9 tons/ ha and the annual production weighed 4 million tons. The current rice productivity and production has gained over 6 tons/ha and 24 million tons/year, respectively. This is a substantial increase.

Although indexes may overlap, the output of an automatic indexer is generally presented as a fiat and unstructured list of terms. Our purpose is to exploit term overlap and embedding so as to yield a substantial qualitative and quantitative improvement in automatic indexing through concept combination. The increase in the volume of indexing is 10.5% for free indexing and 52.3% for controlled indexing. The resulting structure of the indexed corpus is a partial conceptual analysis.

Plants are sessile organisms and as such must have mechanisms to deal with both abiotic and biotic stresses to ensure survival. The term “abiotic stress” includes many stresses caused by environmental conditions such as drought, salinity, UV and extreme temperatures. Due to global climate change it is predicted that abiotic stresses will increase in the near future and have substantial impacts on crop yields (Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change; http://www.ipcc.ch).

The regression results also imply that expected inflation has a substantial effect on expected long-run real equity returns. In other words, in addition to the negative effect on stock prices associated with its effect on expected earnings, higher expected inflation also raises long- run required returns. Roughly speaking, a one percentage point increase in expected inflation increases required long-run real stock returns about a percentage point; equivalently, it reduces the current price of stocks about 20 percent.

While such investigations yield differing effects dependent on the situation, the common observation of a temperature change has been associated with the presence of mechanical energy, which is required to overcome frictional resistance as sliding at the contact interface occurs. The energy, dissipated through conversion into thermal energy, is manifested as a temperature rise. At the microlevel, this increase can be substantial. A localized change in material properties, an enhancement in chemical reactivity, and ultimately, failure of the mechanical system can result.
