  • The trails were conducted on cash crops i.e. sugarcane and cotton. In cotton integrated weed control and in sugarcane Sustainable Sugarcane Initiative (SSI) technology was popularized among farmers. Horticultural crops covered under study were onion and pomegranate. In the same way in onion crop to reduce the cost of cultivation integrated weed management and in pomegranate to protect the fruits from sun scorching PP Non woven bag technology was demonstrated at farmer’s field.

  • Various engineering properties of rice husk, rice straw, sugarcane bagasse and cotton stalk were estimated. Experiment was performed at SPRERI (Sardar Patel Renewable Energy Research Institute), Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat. Different physical properties of these residues such as moisture content, bulk density, true density, porosity, angle of repose and thermal properties like volatile matter, ash content and fixed carbon was measured. Bulk density of rice husk and rice straw was 331.59 kg/m3 and 380.54 kg/m3 respectively.

  • This paper explore spatial and temporal dimensions of farm diversification of Cauvery Delta Zone (CDZ) for 20 years. In addition, it focuses on percentage of deviations from average area under cultivation of major crops in CDZ. Paddy is the major crop cultivated in CDZ. It accounted for nearly 65 percent of the gross cropped area. Recently farmers in the CDZ are shifting from paddy to diversified crops. Hence to examine this issue the study was taken up.

  • In India, over 370 million tonnes of biomass is generated every year and it contributes to over one third of primary energy (Chauhan, 2010). This biomass can be easily densified in the form of pellets and briquettes. The present study was undertaken to estimate the availability of biomass for major agricultural crops and to work out its energy potential. Based on the area under cultivation and production for the years 2000-01 and 2011-12, ten major agricultural crops of Haryana were selected i.e. rice, jowar, bajra, maize, cotton, sugarcane, wheat, barley, gram, and rapeseed and mustard.

  • Studies were carried out for rapid micropropagation of two sugarcane genotypes Co-86032 and CoVC-18061. The explants were surface sterilized with 75% alcohol for 30 minutes using cotton. The cultures were initiated by inoculating shoot apical meristem on MS (Murashige and Skoog, 1962) medium containing 1.0 mg/l kinetin. The multiplication response of two sugarcane genotypes was studied under five levels of 6-Benzylaminopurine (0, 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2 mg/l) and five levels of kinetin (0, 0.25, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 mg/l) in completely randomized design with 5x5x2 factorial treatment combinations.
