Sunflower in Odisha

A field experiment was conducted at main research farm of OUAT, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The experiment was laid out in double split design with 27 treatment combinations and three replications. In main plot sunflower residue was removed in one plot, incorporated in another plot and in third plot no sunflower was grown. In subplot three methods of establishment of rice was taken namely dry direct seeded, wet direct seeded and transplanting method of rice establishment.

Forecasting of sunflower production is of utmost importance in state of Odisha. Forecasted values of area and yield of sunflower are used to forecast production of sunflower. Forecasting done by the help of best fit regression model is quite reliable. Selecting the appropriate models that would fit the data is done through the help of scatter plot of the data. The model to be considered for best fit has to satisfy the error assumptions and must have all the estimated coefficients significant.

A field experiment was conducted in Central Farm of OUAT, Bhubaneswar, to determine the water use efficiency of sunflower under deficit drip irrigation during the year 2018-19. Five treatment levels of irrigation i.e. at field capacity, 20 per cent, 40 per cent and 60 per cent MAD level of irrigation under drip irrigation method and one farmers practice under furrow irrigation method as control with 5 replications was considered for the experiment with RBD design.
