Ebook "Modified cyclodextrins for chiral separation" offers a review of the latest advances in developing modified cyclodextrins as chiral selectors for various chromatographic and electromigration techniques. Over the years, many descriptions of chiral separation have appeared in academic journals and books, but most of them have been devoted to either the development of analytical methods and protocols or the summary of different chiral selectors, including cyclodextrins for chiral separation applications.

Poly(butylene terephthalate) based novel stationary phase (SP), composed of planar aromatic phenyl group together with ester group monomer units, was designed for supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) use. As expected from its structure, this phase shows planarity recognition of isomeric aromatics and closely similar compounds.

We investigated and compared the robustness of supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) separations of the peptide gramicidin, using either isocratic or gradient elution. This was done using design of experiments in a design space of co-solvent fraction, water mass fraction in co-solvent, pressure, and temperature.

Lignin depolymerisation produces a large variety of low molecular weight phenolic compounds that can be upgraded to value-added chemicals. Detailed analysis of these complex depolymerisation mixtures is, however, hampered by the lack of resolving power oftraditional analysis techniques.

A novel poly(4-vinylpyridine) based stationary phase was investigated for its performance under supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) mode. Due to its unique structure, this stationary phase has high molecular planarity recognition ability for aromatic samples possessing the same number of aromatic rings and -electrons.

Systematic investigations of peak distortions due to additives in supercritical fluid chromatography
The impact of eluent components added to improve separation performance in supercritical fluid chromatography was systematically, and fundamentally, investigated. The model system comprised basic pharmaceuticals as solutes and eluents containing an amine (i.e., triethylamine, diethylamine, or isopropylamine) as additive with MeOH as the co-solvent.

The adsorption of methanol on reversed phase stationary phases in supercritical fluid chromatography
The surface excess isotherms of methanol from carbon dioxide on reversed phase stationary phases under two different operational conditions – which can be considered subcritical and supercritical conditions depending on the molar fraction of CO2 in methanol – were determined using the minor disturbance peak method.

Supercritical-fluid chromatography (SFC) is regaining popularity in various fields of analytical chemistry owning to significant advances in instrumentation made in the past decade. However, due to the CO2 based mobile phase and the high flow rates often employed, detection of trace amounts of analytes and coupling with certain detectors or other chromatography techniques are still difficult under many circumstances.

The prediction of chromatographic retention under supercritical-fluid chromatography (SFC) conditions was studied, using established and novel theoretical models over ranges of modifier content, pressure and temperature. Whereas retention models used for liquid chromatography often only consider the modifier fraction, retention in SFC depends much more strongly on pressure and temperature.

In supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC), the variation of pressure, temperature and volumetric flowrate is most noticeable when the mobile phase contains only neat carbon dioxide. This can be explained by the compressibility of CO2 and introduces several difficulties to the work of chromatographers. The only flow parameter that is considered to be constant across the SFC system is the mass flow-rate.
