TiO2 has strong photocatalytic activity, which can oxidize and decompose impurities on surfaces and in the air. Therefore, TiO2 is used as an additive in the self-cleaning coating and paint industries. In this work, SiO2 is used in the TiO2/SiO2 mixture as the nucleus to homogenize the dispersion components. TiO2 and SiO2 nanoparticles are synthesized by the sol-gel method combined with ultrasound that suits the size range of 10-30 nm.

In this study, a facile synthesis and grafting method is reported for tetradentate Cu(II) Schiff base complex onto the surface of graphene oxide (GO). The Schiff base Cu-complex was synthesized through the condensation reaction between 2,3-diamino pyridine and 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde, followed by the addition of Cu(II) ion to afford N2O2-Cu(II) complex.

In this study, the effect of alkaline-treated spent coffee grounds and compatibilizer on the mechanical properties of bio-composite based on polypropylene (PP) matrix was investigated. After alkaline treatment, the surface of spent coffee grounds became rougher; hence the PP matrix could better adsorb and encapsulate the treated coffee grounds compared with that of untreated ones. The obtained results showed that the coating at the spray current of 300 A, the air pressure of 5.5 bar and the stand-off distance of 162.8 mm has the lowest porosity and highest microhardness. In addition, this coating also has better adhesion to the steel substrate and wear resistance than other coatings. Moreover, X–ray phase analysis showed that the following phases are created on the surface of the Al-Mg coatings: Al, Al2MgO4 and Al3Mg2.

Results of this investigation have been correlated with the films structural and optical properties. Among the structural properties, surface roughness and morphology, and crystalline quality of the films have been obtained by using the XRD and AFM methods. Additionally, optical properties such as band gap tune-ability and dielectric constant have been determined by spectroscopic ellipsometer.

Keterite Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) thin films were fabricated by spray pyrolysis deposition using aqueous precursor solutions with and without the addition of HCl. The effects of HCl on the crystallinity, morphology and photovoltaic properties of CZTS thin films were investigated. The results showed that the presence of HCl had significant effects on the crystal growth, grain size, and surface morphology of the fabricated CZTS thin films resulting in the improvement of the photovoltaic properties of the solar cell.

The primary objective of this work is to study the aerodynamic pressures on Mirror Surface at Various speeds to determine the effects of aerodynamics on to Mirror vibration. Additionally, the Mirror was modified by Shrouding around the external periphery to determine the possibility of minimisation of aerodynamic pressure fluctuations and thereby vibration. The Shrouding length used for the analysis was of 24mm, 34mm and 44mm length.
