This study presents some research results on the relationship between the geological environment of the surface layer and the level of modern tectonic activity in the sea waters of the Hoi An - Cua Dai area based on the interpretation of high-resolution shallow seismic data combined with the surface sediments’ grainsize analysis and other available data sources. The results show that the surface geological environment in the coastal waters North of the Thu Bon river fault is influenced by modern tectonic activities, believed to be a part of causing geological catastrophic events.

In porous aquifers, the central-to-sea cross-section highlights meteoric water dominance from rain and surface sources. Groundwater undergoes exchange-absorption with silicate minerals, enriching Ca2+ and Mg2+ (reducing Na+). Seaward, dissolution and leaching of salts in marine-origin sediments (mQ2, mQ13, mQ12-3, and mN22) prevail. The results of this paper provide necessary information for the effective management of groundwater quality.

This study aims to investigate the characteristics of the salinization phenomenon in water systems and its controlling factors based on hydrogeochemical analysis, seawater-freshwater mixing model and End Members Mixing Analysis. The results revealed that seawater intrusion negatively affects strongly on surface water quality with different magnitudes, depending on seasonal variation and tidal regime.

In ebook "Catalysis with supported size-selected Pt clusters: Fundamental UHV and applied ambient experiments" Florian Schweinberger investigates the influence of the precise size of catalytically active species on reactivity. In order to do this he carries out studies both in UHV and under ambient conditions for supported, size-selected Platium clusters (8-68 atoms). Schweinberger probed the electronic structure, adsorption properties and reactivity of two olefins on surfaces and Pt clusters in the submonolayer range.

Ebook "Geochemistry of organic matter in river-sea systems" is important for the following reasons: information about organic matter transport by rivers is required for estimating total run-off of dissolved and suspended substances from the earth's surface into seas and oceans. They give a possibility to judge the quantity and the quality of organic matter in various climatic zones of the Earth, sources of organic matter, peculiarities of its transformation and migration in various sections of the rivers, from the head to the mouth.

Microplastics are nowadays considered ubiquitous pollutants since they have been found widespread in all environmental compartments, particularly in aquatic systems. In urban water bodies, municipal wastewater discharges and overflows of combined storm and wastewater drains are the sources of microplastic pollution.

The non-point source pollution is caused by precipitation, surface runoff, drainage, hydrologic modification and so on. In this study, we examine the change of water quality, which is caused by non-point source pollution, and discharge under the condition of climate change scenario (RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5).

The rejects and membrane wash water were also treated in the bioreactor, resulted in complete removal of ClO4 ¯ through this approach. This is the first report where biotreatment is adopted as a pre- and post-treatment to membrane process for removing ClO4 ¯ , and this will find field application for treating ClO4 ¯ contaminated ground as well as surface water sources.

In this study, the numerical computation is used to investigate the transient thermocapillary migration of a water droplet in a micro-channel under the effect of heating source. For tracking the evolution of the free interface between two immiscible fluids, we employed the finite element method with the two-phase level set technique to solve the Navier-Stokes equations and continuity equation coupled with the energy equation. Both the upper wall and the bottom wall of the microchannel are set to be an ambient temperature.
